Man Who Kidnapped,Forcefully Married And Impregnated 13 Year Old Girl Has Been Jailed 26 Years...

Yunusa Dahiru has been convicted by a Federal High Court in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State on Thursday, May 21,2020 and sentenced to 26 years in prison for abducting and forcefully marrying 13 year old, Ese Oruru in 2015.

Miss Oruru was abducted on August 12, 2015 at her mother’s shop in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state by Yunusa Dahiru, 55, and taken to Kano, where she was allegedly raped, forcibly converted into Islam and married off without her parents’ consent.

She was however rescued by the police on February 29, 2016 and gave birth to a baby girl on May 26th 2016.

Dahiru was later charged with child trafficking, child abuse, rape, kidnap, infringement on the right to religion, and holding a person against her will.

He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Justice Jane Inyang of Federal High Court, Yenogoa, Bayelsa state while delivering her judgement on Thursday, May 21st, found the accused guilty of child trafficking, illicit s#x, s#xual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge.

He was jailed five years in count two which bothered on child trafficking, seven years in count three – illicit s#x, seven years in count four s#xual exploitation and seven years in count in count five – unlawful carnal knowledge.

The judge stated that the sentences would run consecutively, which means the convict will spend a maximum of 26 years in jail unless he gets his conviction overturned by the appellate court.

    3. Anonymous and Eka Joy, both of you did not know the history of the story!

      Go back to 2015.

Eka Joy, who is judging parents wrongfully?

    4. Simple question : How did her parents fail her?
Maybe there is another side to this story that we don't know.
I remember that her parents were instrumental to raising public awareness on this issue. Prior to raising awareness, they did so much. They travelled to Kano, met religious leaders, even tried to see the Emir but all proved abortive. So if you know another side to this story, kindly educate us.

    5. Anonymous 7:27, that awareness was raised after how many days and after she was taken "forcefully" or lured by the Psycho from Bayelsa to Kano.

Before that, this peadophile was a frequent customer in Ese's mother's buka. This girl was always playing inappropriately with this Psycho and her mother was in the know. People that lives in that community were interviewed, they knew the guy and according to many of them, Ese Even visited this guy at home and her mother was aware.

I am not ignorant about how some buka works in Nigeria, some mothers using their teenage children to attract men. (I know many Nigerians don't like the raw truth, but, it must be told) you don't use your teenage children as a bargain for customers. Her mother left her on that faithful day, in the buka alone, and do you know what time it was?

We must learn to protect our children with everything in us from evil people roaming around the town.

Parents should stop putting their kids in harms way.

  4. Oh God! Chase evil people away from us. This young girl was busy assisting her mom in the shop when this evil man abducted and put her in family way at 13.

This evil Yunusa will soon be released from prison but this girl's life might not remain the same.

    May God help Ese.

  5. Yeah I remember this story like yesterday. It was such a shock. I hope this serves as a deterrent to other idiots. How can you kidnap someone's child and force your religion on her. Our judicial system needs some serious reforms though. How can a case be in court since 2016? Thank God they even followed through with this one. I have completely forgotten about this case.
