    4. Its called "Business"
That money given to the government is a PR move to buy favour in the near future, thats how alot of establishments with foresights stay afloat, its like giving a christmas chicken to your boss, with the ulterior motive to collect a cow from him later, sadly in the process, alot of staff was sacrificed, thats why you always need a life raft when ure an employee, you hardly can tell when you'd be the Isaac to be sacrificed as burnt offering.

  8. Stella i can't believe UBA and Access Bank (don't know of the rest) were busy donating bibillions upon billions to fed govt to fight corona virus yet they can't pay workers so they are sacking them, closing branches, owing others?
What kind of tomfoolery is this? Do you pour water into a well? Why donated billions to fed govt that have stolen more than enuf, yet you can't keep the masses employed.
Only God will take care of Nigerians ffrom henceforth. Cos the futyre is uncertain.

The aftermath of COVID19 will equally disastrous, to the worlds econmony & the living, it'd even last longer, so humans! We should all brace up!!!!! It'd be a roller coaster ride, gratis.

  22. I really pity her and other sacked workers. I hope they gave them severance package to enable them to start something else on their own.
I am here waiting for my fate as a private school teacher. Gov. Makinde said schools in Ibadan will resume on 15th of July. As in far far JULY!
We were not paid for last month (April). So we will remain without pay till probably end of July or more. I say probably because some parents are still owing and it is not sure if they will pay when schools resume as a result of the economic woes of this virus. Parents were asked on the school's WhatsApp platform to pay a token so that we can be conducting online lessons for the pupils, they refused, they said no money. As we know, private schools are run with internally generated funds, nothing for us and we can't conduct any home lesson in this pandemic.
Right now, I wish I can just get something to do and get little cash to start selling essential things. My teaching job is not reliable as it is now. God pls take control.

  24. So sad... Access bank management didn't do well at all... Just four weeks of lock down and they are sacking enmass.. What if the lockdown was extended, that means they would close down.. And they donated a whole 1billion to the government when the corona virus issue started..

I wonder how they expect those laid off to survive now. I pray God comes through for them.

Major companies oh, and their stocks are falling, While grocery stores, Netflix and mask/sanitizer companies are cashing out. It's wealth transfer, even among the entrepreneurs.

  28. If naija people cannot use this opportunity to demand at least 2 standard hospitals and real social safety net, (a small bag of rice is NOT a safety net) via social media then nothing will ever change. For those who will accuse us of being in America and talking, I did my part after June 12, 1993 when Babangida cancelled a free and fair election! Demonstrations in Lagos made Nigeria ungovernable for Babangida and even colleges which were then not havens of cultists and mediocres had vibrant student unions so much so I still play some songs in my head sometimes (Baban... na goat o omo eran). Civil society now has social media but runs girls and boys use it to advertise photoshopped boobs and other wares not to fight for social justice! #Buildoneworldclasshospitalnow #nomoremedicaltreatmentabroad #naijaneedsworldclasshospitals

  31. My husband lost his job as well. He doesn't work in a bank though... They sacked everyone they employed in the past one year and my husband was affected. I'm seven months pregnant and I'm trying to be so strong for him. The sad thing is, he left his former job where he worked for 5 years for this company and he wasn't employed as a contract staff oh. It's soo sad but he's been doing a lot of personal projects and I know he'll get a better job soon. I'm only worried about the timing. How do you sack people during a pandemic? How? I'm thankful that we saved a lot before now so I'm not worried about our baby who is on the way but I'm still sad this happened to him. I've been praying a lot for him and I know God will answer my prayers. It is well!

    1. "How do you sack people during a pandemic?"

Unfortunately, a major side effect of a pandemic is business will not be as usual. The fact is, a lot of companies will have to sack staffs. Some job roles have been rendered redundant by this pandemic.

Continue to be strong for your husband and baby. It is well

I put myself in other people's lives to see reality that what a lot of people are earning is not even enough to feed them not to talk of savings, except you have another means of making extra money, bankers have no life and those managers are agents of Lucifer, the worst of them are the religious ones,I am not a banker

  40. Thanks Mr Anthony. It’s Fela’s suffering and smiling. How do you save from a salary less than N50000 or even 5 times that after paying rent, school fees, transportation. People who accuse others of using all fingers to feed are sometimes those who do not commit to their jobs and do it the 10Am to 3.30pm way. If I’m working my full time job the way I’m supposed to, I can’t do side gigs but I don’t blame them. It’s only in Nigeria that a person can be owed one year salary so maybe they have a point! May God reward the people who fired a pregnant woman but donated to their corrupt friends under the guise of COVID when their first obligation should be to their staff and employees. People should also stop glorifying some of these runs women who turned bank jobs that used to be very good jobs to contract jobs by collaborating with their men friends at the top to collect full staff salaries and hire less privileged at a discount calling it “contract jobs”. I can think of a rich one who got her money that way back when it first started many years ago when some here were just little kids. If you don’t know the source of people’s money, don’t ooh and aah them, they may have contributed to your current misery!
