  1. See as men take her talk personal, I see nothing wrong in what she said..most women are in constant fear of men, some women are scared of their husband they can't even air out their opinion.

    1. Don't mind the fools, as if what she said wasn't the plain TRUTH.
How many of those dogs barking under her post would actually send their sisters, wife, daughter to go down the street to buy something once it's 8/9 O'clock?? Why is that?? Isn't it for the fear of MEN?? Instead of them to sort themselves out, they are there convulcing under her post, ndi uchuu.
I haven't even seen any of them calling out their fellow MEN that carried out those devilish act, but they want to blab under a woman seeking justice for two innocent girls that died because of the monsters in disguise od men, fix yourselves dogs, tell the killers, the rapists and the ritualists amongst yourselves to stop their atrocious acts cos it's evil, At least, you guys see how we call out the runs girls, the husband snatches and the home wreckers, WHY AREN'T YOU MOFOs DOING SAME FOR YOUR OWN GENDER, WHY?? Why attack a person for seeking justice and speaking the truth? ndi aruru anii.

    2. Very true...even,a lady cant even enter a public bus filled with only men even if the men are just harmless passengers. The more reason scammers and kidnappers include women in their business nowadays

When I go home late at night and I see a man on the road ,I get scared 😟

    4. Boko haram criminals are men, criminal fulani herds MEN, highway armed robbers are usually men, therefore MEN are evil and to be feared. The pple in d streets at night selling sex are women, WOmen are asewos. Bcos a guy had girl friends with rotten fish smelling private, this means that WOmen have such smelling privates. Some women kill their partners, so WOmen are killers. Makes sense right?

    5. She right, myself l can't be in a bus where there's no female passenger. Any gathering you see only the men, whether they are two, three or twenty. please be very distance from them.

    6. The "constant fear of men" doesn't mean men in general it stands for those men who have power over a woman and abuse it at any given opportunity.
Its the same as saying "women love money" yet there are women who arent bothered about material things. I dont see why they are in their feelings

    7. See the idiot men abusing her.....is she lieing. They keep raping women in dis country with no consequences. How many rapist have been succesfully prosecuted in dis country. So many go scot free; even police dont take rape serious;they will be asking stupid questions why u went to visit a man. Even so many naija men have d mentality dat dey are entitled to d body of any woman whether she says yes or No. Some sick fathers even feel have a right to dere daughters body.
Very egoistical set of people. A young girl was savagely raped and murdered and dis is what dese idiots have to say.

    8. How can men have the audacity to go into a school and kidnap over 200 young girls and take them away from their families just like that
Yes women are scared of men

  3. Wow Genevieve gets to be bashed for once.

Well, I know she didn't mean to generalize, That is if she was even the one that wrote this.

When making a statement don't generalize!!!!

    1. Try generalizing about women, and see if there won't be endless streams of reactions!

    2. This is not bashing at all,I called it self defence.Like me I am always conscious of myself whenever men are around,I even extend the fear by guiding and protecting my daughter's like a female lion from them.God knows I fear rape more than lack.

      Delete
    3. I disagree about the generalization here jessi. She only said what most women say in their hearts when they are out and night falls. The most thing most women are scared of when out at night is being raped followed by kidnapping. What are the chances a woman would rape another woman while out at night or alone in a place?
This generalization fits the issue she’s addressing.

    4. I dont blame u. I dont have a daughter have a son. But if i did she wont even leave my sight. Reason i can never hire male domestic servant and i dont let any driver, washer man or male live in my house. Even male relatives i am fearing. Still prefer female relative living with me

They know exactly what she meant but they just want to deflect from the message and turn it into something else e.g feminism, male bashing etc. but they just dont know the difference between feminism, male bashing and the truth.

This a very serious issue and we don't want it to become the norm in our society.

I can't believe Nigeria is one of the most religious countries in the world

    3. The thing weh dey pain me pass be say, This dummies have all refused to educate themselves on what FEMINISM is all about. They keep making an epileptic patients out of themselves, how is a feminist a hater of man and a basher of man?? The time and energy they're supposed to use in educating themselves, they'd rather use it to advertise their daftness and bash a person speaking up for justice, ndi nyiye.

      Delete
    4. You’re very right, they refuse to educate themselves, women can’t do everything for men. There are certain things THEY HAVE TO DO themselves.
This is why some people are angry with the Church instead of preaching about success and money all the time, they also have to preach about self control and issues like rape. Even if rape is not against the law and men can get away with it under the law, surely God doesn’t like rape and it goes against God not just women.
And if men think they are doing bro code by not speaking out or maybe because they have also done it before or plan on doing it, they don’t realise that they are also making themselves a potential victim through the females in their lives, their mothers, daughters, sisters, girlfriends.
The males in the life of the girl that was raped and killed in Church are they not also crying in pain, or is it only the females in her life that are currently crying.
Men really need to learn to correct themselves when they are wrong.

    5. Na so we see am o Chisom. How can you marry a girl out in marriage early to old men and the boy of the same age is allowed to go to school. When you talk they say it’s male bashing. How can a man and a woman do the same job, for the same amount of hours and then they pay the man more than the woman. When you talk they say it’s male bashing. How about female circumcision. The list goes on and on.

  9. Her statement was not properly worded. EVERY female is afraid of being taken advantage of by Men. Physically by rape, assault. Sometimes emotionally. Some women are so strong that they whoop guys asses like you wouldn’t believe.
Self defense classes are popular based off of this physical fear.
Nobody wants to be abused and I know one of my greatest fears is rape, then failure.
We all have fears and as a woman, they are mostly centered on the “stronger” sex.
This subject is deep. It requires a lot of explaining. Don’t know if other women have the same fear of rape🤷🏽‍♀️

Because we could be grabbed and raped by the rapist animals among you, We are not even hundred percent safe in our homes because you men can break in at any time and not only Robb us but also rape us, WTF I'm I typing, we're not even safe in the CHURCH because of your gender, we're not even safe in the streets where we're hustling cos you guys might robb us or shoot at us...... Baby girls are not even safe with your gender being around her.
It's not about unleashing anger and insult on Genevieve, it's actually about you guys fixing your gender and calling out on those ones making it seem like the male genders are beast! See the way you people (male) are all attacking a woman that came out to seek for justice for her fellow gender that was brutally ABUSED AND MURDERED BY YOUR GENDER, instead of calling out the animal and beast amongst your gender that has continued to tarnish your reputations, Why didn't you fools seek for the fishing out and facing the law of the demons that committed those atrocious acts to those beautiful young girls, you fools want to rant and talk rubbish because those girls involved aren't your sisters oriaa, umuekwensuu.
It's time everyone starts taking responsibility, be you a male or a female, stop playing defensive for nonsense, stop condoning crime, stand up for the truth, enough of all these rubbish. Those bastards will be brought to book and thoroughly dealt with, shameless rapists everywhere.

Men get raped too, abused, sacked because they refused their female bosses advances. Some even get lied upon with fake rape cases. Some women kill their husband, torture their step children to death even their house helps aren't spared but no men has come out to say they are scared of women. Evil has no face or gender to it

I told her I was married and I had a little child to feed but can't cheat on my wife. I thought she would have empathy as a woman. She fired me las las. Is It because men don't talk and we keep everything inside. If we start talking internet will be on fire. The other one I have in my house as a wife, I have stopped getting her maids. She starved them and treats them like they aren't someone else's child. She is nice to our own children but other people children she treats them like they have leprosy. They all lie to her after just one month of working that they are going to get married so they can't work anymore only for the woman who brought them to call me aside and report my wife to me. Wicked women everywhere.

  15. It is an absolute fact a lot of women live in constant fear of men.
If a woman finds herself out late at night what is she in fear of- her fellow woman, a child, a lion the most dangerous animanl in the world, a tiger or men. She is in fear of men, the very people that are strong and are supposed to protect her from harm in her society are the very same people she is in fear of.
Nigerian men dont like to hear the truth. Women are scarred of you- from policemen, to fathers, to uncles, to brothers, to cousins, to strange men on the streets that you dont even know.
Tomorrow now one perverted male will say its indecent dressing that causes rape, this innocent girl was in Church reading, if women are not safe in Church in Nigeria, then women are not safe anywhere in Nigeria.

    2. Statistics baby statistics, it's all about statistics. This is why statistics are used because people like you will look for a way to twist things around, you can't compare the two and mens' actions are indespicable and indefensible no matter how much you try to rationalise it.

      Delete
    3. Even me I am afraid of human being in general. A woman planned the rape of my friend's friend with her male friends out of jealousy.

It could even be a woman that plotted for her to get raped. My friend talked about how she was almost raped and three hefty men came to rescue her they broke the windows of the house where she was camped and carried her out. So stop generalizing and before you fear men fear yourself🚶‍♂️

      Delete
    4. 9:33 it's because men don't come out else statistics would be put to shame. Men get raped too, they get beaten by their wives and abused , on yeah! But instead of them being supported like women they are called weakling so they keep quiet and statistics have no idea of the pain they feel inside. A man has been taught not to cry from infancy to toughen up so that's what you get no voice, no support and no statistics. Men get groped too, assaulted, demeaned and misunderstood. Even on this blog some call them cheat when they say all men cheat. They disparage their character even when some comes out to say they don't cheat they still say you are the 2% out of a 100%. They are called immoral, sex depraved animal like they have tasted all the men in the world to know this. Like anonymous night post of some women stories doesn't scare us enough. She made it a gender war when she said Men, she generalised .

      Delete
    5. Most men who get raped are raped by men and that is a fact because you don’t speak about it is your problem. Men are physically stronger than women so if you choose to be bullied into sex by a woman because you want to keep your job or you want to climb up in society or because you don’t want to pay your rent that is your problem.
We are talking about defenceless babies, girls and women who are being raped and killed here not your fellow men calling you weakling, deal with it the way women too have to deal with their issues.
This is what we are talking about, men need to speak up,if your wife is raping you and beating you at home, she should be shamed the way men who do it too are shamed. But what are the statistics of the women who do this compared to men, this is why women and developed societies talk the way they do, what is wrong is wrong but you can never compare both gender statistics. It is a well known fact that all over the world men are the highest perpetrators of crime and anything negative, you name it men are top on the list. You need to speak out for yourselves and others, your formula so far has not worked for centuries maybe you need to change tactics.

      Delete
    6. You better rally your fellow men together so that you can start supporting yourself. You can’t expect women to do it all for you, because women have been fighting for their rights all their lives while men constantly try to block those rights. And we are still fighting for our rights and the rights of our children so don’t expect women to leave that to start fighting for men’s right.

You as a man who seem to know what men are going through, what have you done about it, what charity have you started, what blog have you started, what awareness have you created, name one thing you have done as a man. Have you brought your fellow men together? Or as usual you’re waiting for a woman to start the fight for you because of your ego.

Women are very busy oh, you better throw away that ego that is making you men not to do the right thing by yourselves and by everyone else in the society that you dominate and control.

    7. That’s where the problem is.... let them come out and talk. Them not talking unleashes the dragon out of them one day and hence the cycle continues.
If you anons are men; I implore you, If you have male kids, teach them to open up and not bottle things up cause they are MEN. Teach them to say how they feel. It’s also not too late for you to talk to someone about the assault you went through anon.... so we can balance the damn statistics.

    9. That is not the point. No one is telling her not to talk. But when she talks she should not generalize and I don't know how that is so hard for you all to understand. You keep saying we should fight and speak up for ourselves right? How would you all feel if we decide to speak up and we label all women? That there is the question but you all make it seem like if we speak up you would be okay with it if we put you all in the same basket. That there is my point but you all would rather act obtuse like we are telling her not to fight and speak up. Speak up but do it with sense. 20. But she didn't lie, tell me of any woman that is not afraid of men?

Even though, we have them as fathers, brothers and are married to them, doesn't mean we are not consciously aware of what they can do, if they choose to.

I think that instead of protesting too much, the best thing for menfolk to do, is to start creating awareness and campaigns amongst themselves concerning those evil one.

Let your fellow men know that it's wrong to use their God given advantages over women wrongly.

I remember a female friend telling about how a guy nearly raped her in her apartment and how after that incident she was constantly in fear whenever she was alone in that apartment and she decided not to let male guest in anymore or is it the time one imbecile groped my butt on the road and somehow every time I dress I'm conscious because we have raised a large group of badly behavioured males who feel that they have a right to a woman's body.

The constant fear when you are coming back home at night or leaving home early, the male folks have to fix up.

    1. That her statement is deep and thought provoking. It isn't just about the killing of the 2 girls but what women go through generally in the society because they are 'women'.

A woman drives on the road, she will be harassed, you will hear statements like 'na woman'.
Policemen will slap If you if you dare make a case for yourself and term you stubborn.

Your husband beats you up but you will be instructed to beg him at the police station where you should get justice.

Go to a guy's house, he becomes entitled to your body, you may get raped and you dare not report or talk about it lest you become an object of ridicule.
Male bosees wil harass you in the office and threaten you with your job.

Do not argue with a man else you get beaten up. When Dino had a face off with Tinubu's wife, he threatened to rape her or beat her.

Senator Elisha beat up a pregnant woman and nothing happened. The whole incident was captured on video.

Girl's hawking on the streets are constantly abused and raped.

The point and the truth is women are more at the receiving end. I admit there are decent men(the Lord bless them) but we all know that our society needs to do better in raising the 'boy child' just like Djnee said.

  25. We now live in an era where being politically correct trumps an honest expression of personal opinion. When you are an influencer of some sort, like a well known actor or a public figure, you have to check and double check your words before you post it. You have to be on high alert and your sensitivity on certain issues must be on point. Like I always say, the downside of written words is that they may already ruffle feathers before you get the opportunity to erase the ambiguities and explain the exact intentions of your words, that's even if you are lucky enough to get such opportunity.

Cases in point, the instant case and that of Omotola's post on her hubby flying out Chinese Nationals. In the instant case, Gennie may not have be conscious of the generalization, it may have been an honest oversight. She, as a lady, may not even live in periodic or constant fear of any man but decided to lend solidarity by using "we". Whether we admit it or not, Nigeria is one of the highly patriarchal countries where it is actually culturally expected of men to dominate, even be oppressive to women. Haven't we read stories of ladies suffering domestic violence being too scared to leave, even when help is rendered? Alas! Here we are because she inadvertently or deliberately omitted "some". I can't say I blame the men who reacted, though. If it were a man who made a similar comment, the Internet would have been broken by now.

As for the Omotola's case I cited as another example, perhaps if she had the opportunity to clear the air, you might have a change of heart. Where you saw bragging, you may now see a frightened wife concerned about the safety of her hubby.

I want to give Gennie the benefit of the doubt that she meant no harm and raw emotion is responsible for the wordings of her post. We have monsters from both genders. We have some men who are category A a$$holes, excuse my French. We also have some men who are amazing gentlemen. We have ladies who are pure bred angels while we have some who are Jezebel's spawns.

This gender war is as ridiculous as it is useless. The irony is, most of the ladies who run men down are the same ladies who inundate us with chronicles bordering on how to get their boyfriends back and how lonely they are because they aren't in a relationship et al. We need each other, regardless of our sexualities. Not all relationships are about sex. Imagine how dull the world would be with only one gender! I don't know about you but my husband, my father, my sons, my brothers and my nephews are the different colours that make up my rainbow. My male friends are male colleagues all add to brilliance in my world. My life is better with them in it.

  26. I don't agree with what she said because Evi is evil and should not be acrued to a particular gender, early this year we have many cases of women killing their husbands and girls fatally stabbing their boyfriends. The lady that drowned her baby in a bucket though might be criminally insane and societies have seen sophisticated female robbers, éveil cannot be genderlized if their is a English word like that. No society is devoid of evildoers and both genders are parpetrators, may God continually guide us in our going out and coming in cos what happened to this girl could be anybody. A church is a centre of spiritual refuge do she wouldn't have thought such could happen in her wildest imagination and I believe the parpetrators of this evil lives within the church environment or are evil church members cos they did not come with a weapon which means there was no innitial intention of killing her she must have fought them or she recognised one of them hence this gruesome murder. May God comfort her family, this incident saddened my heart

    1. Your last paragraph is the truth. I have met so many good men and her lack of tact in phrasing her words properly made me a bit miffed on their behalf as well even though I get I point. I have felt safer being around some men than some women. Strange but true. I almost got assaulted went I went to my female friend's house. How the guy entered and tried to abuse me still made me give her a side-eye till now. I remember when I had to travel for my visa interview. It was my first time out of the house and I was just a teenager then. A friend gave me the contact of his friends. He told me I will be fine with them than staying in a hotel. I got there and these guys left their room for me, bought me food, always had the generator on so I could sleep well. They took me around the state, they were all nice till I left. Another instance was when I planned to stay with a friend when I went to Osun state, but the number didn't go through when I got there. I had spent all I had on me thinking I had a place to sleep but the friend was nowhere to be found. A guy saw my distraught state and told me not to fret. He called his mother in my presence and told her my plight and without knowing who I was they both agreed that he brings me home. She was really hospitable and cooked for me until I left.
Bad people exist yet good people exist as well and we should try to put them into consideration when we speak and write, if not for any other reason but out of respect.

  35. I remember during my industrial training, I worked at a male dominated company. There were sooo many males and only a handful of females. If I needed to see a female, I had to walk all the way to the admin or the clinic to see a female (a very very long walk.) But you know what? I was never left alone in the office. There was always a male with me, protecting me, making sure I was safe. My boss made sure that if they all had to go for lunch, I was never left alone. Someone had to stay behind with me. I remember one time, the guy that was told to stay behind with me was really hungry, I told him to go. I could take care of myself.

After about 10 mins when he left, this man who was notorious for sleeping with women and who had been trying so hard to get my attention came into the office and locked the door. I was so scared. I searched frantically for a sharp object to defend myself with incase he decided to misbehave. Thank God nothing happened but I was really scared.

I have never been scared of women. I'm not scared to be alone with women but I definitely am scared of being alone with men. Are there good men? Yes! But the truth is there are so many bad men. Even men are scared of their daughters, sisters, nieces, wives being around men.

The circle continues. You don't hear FIL causing their sons wife problem, do you? Was it not a fellow man that was protecting you? So it's okay for her to generalised because some men cause you stress.

    6. No doubt there are good men and good Nigerian men. There are men who wouldn't hurt a fly but it doesn't change the fact that there are also a lot of bad men. Please let's not get in our feelings. The statistics are there. How many rapist do you know or have you heard of that are females? How many kidnappers, ritualist and armed robbers are females compared to men? Most kidnappers would even ensure that they have a female gang member just so the person they are about to kidnap will feel safe and fall prey.

If Nigerian women say they don't feel safe around Nigerian men, then they don't! You're a man, you've never lived as a woman so you don't understand her struggles. Isn't it funny that you're here defending men but deep down you can't even trust the women in your life whom you love with some men??

    7. Ok so according to you, it’s only women that have maids that behave like that. Agreed, let us agree with you on that, which means if a woman doesn’t have a maid she cannot treat anyone like that, thanks for your observation.

But the issue we are talking about is men raping and killing women all over the place including the maid you used as example.

Women being raped and killed by men they know, by men they don’t know total strangers.

Your example is of maid and madam in a house. I want you to imagine women being raped and killed in Churches, in schools, in work places, in their homes, on the streets, in restaurants, shopping malls, inside cars, inside lifts, in car parks.

You name the place women have been raped there and killed there.

    8. The MIL is only causing problems for her DIL in her sons house right. It’s not that the MIL is going from house to house or street to street or to someone else DIL’s house to rape and kill the DIL’s there right. MIL’s don’t go about raping and killing women. Men do.

In developed counties and counties where they have rights maids are not treated in the way described above, MIL’s also don’t treat their DIL’s that way.

But guess what men in developed countries rape and kill women.

  40. The truth is that I hate it when "some" people make generalization. We can't begin to condemn everyone and everything because of the acts of some evil ones amongst us. We should either have our facts or be specific about anything we want to say. The use of the word " some" here would have saved the day.

So whenever you want to condemn, be kind enough to specify because " Men" in this context includes her father, brothers, nephews, uncles, brother in-laws etc and I am very sure that there good ones amongst those mentioned.

    1. The reason for the condemnation I think you will find is because men don’t condemn this act and their sins, they cover up for themselves and don’t speak against their ills in society but women condemn their bad acts and their sins and don’t cover up like men do. Otherwise we all know that both men and women do bad things.

Some women are prostitutes , does it sound right if I say all the women on SDK blog are prostitutes???? No cause they are not .

Some men are rapists, is it right then to say all men are rapists??? No cause they are not .

Saying women live in fear of men is an extreme generalization. In essense...everyman including me is a predator capable of raping some woman??? Puhleeez! I object to that!

Personally if a woman has LOVING relationships with men (hubby, sons, brothers etc). She won't be likely to categorize all men as bad. Cause BY EXPERIENCE she already knows that some men are good.

But in the case of someone like Genevieve ....Baby mama, and no acknowledged relationship with any man which we know of,(No husband or boyfriend) it seems to me she is biased towards men.....prolly a man hater ...feminist oriented

  43. Why are people acting like they dont inderstand what this lady is trying to say. Come on now, we are not this daft, you know she does nit mean all men. I'm sure, she knows her father and brothers are not bad and some men are not bad. Many Nigerian men have issues because of the way men are brought up in pur society.
It is ingrained in both men and women to treat men and eomen differently.

I am a woman, i am afraid of men when ots dark and i have to go out at night because my greatest ear is rape, molestation or any kind of abuse which i know is fairly abundant in Nigeria.

Several times, i have escaped from being raped or molested by a man, as a child, i was almost molested by an older man who buys from our store, i had to spit on him, i could not have been upto 7 years old, even as a child, i hated that man because he tried to touch my private. Growing ip, my parent allow my older brother's friends to visit, this particular friend of my brothers always try to molest me when nobody was around. I once asked my immediate sister and she told me thesame happens to her and she always fight him off. Many male distant cousins pass through our home and thesame happens.

I went to ABU, Zaria and when your male friends invite you out and you find yourself in their rooms, its thesame fight as they become octopuses with many hands. When i was in Lagos and had to work in VI, anytime there is rlterrible traffic and i had to take short buses to get back home, i have to constantly pray that i make it safe because of the crazies at the bus stops.

I was referred to a so called born again SU to assist me find a job, was warned sternly by the referral to not try to sleep with the man because he is a serious SU, to which i told him, bro, as it is right now, i almost hate men, i am not in the least bit interested in men based on my antecedent. Your guess is good as mine, this so called SU wanted to sleep with me, he even confided in me that he gave his wife an STD ones. Na wa oo ndi born again SU, was almost raped by a trusted family member who my parents asked to assist me with a 2 day accomodation, had to fight him off with everything in me. Sorry for my epistle oo, make una nor vex, i fear men gan. Even now that I am married and have both gender children, i am a mama bear for my girls and i try to educate my son on all these, they ask me why, but i cant even tell them how God delivered me from Rapists, child molesters and evil men cause i always think, i probably did somerhing wrong to cause these evil men to want to hurt me in this way since that evil man tried to touch my private as a 7 year old child.
