Health Minister Eteni Longondo said four persons who died in Mbandaka were confirmed as positive cases.
This followed testing at the national biomedical laboratory in the capital Kinshasa.
The outbreak was confirmed by World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Congo has been struggling to put an end to a nearly two-year-old Ebola outbreak near its eastern borders with Rwanda and Uganda.
The virus has killed more than 2,200 people, the world’s second-deadliest outbreak of the disease on record.
It was days away in April from declaring the end of that outbreak, its tenth since the virus was discovered in 1976, when a new chain of infection was confirmed in the east.
However, no new cases have been detected there in over 30 days.

Hmmm may God hve Mercy on his children.

DeleteEither a carrier of the virus accodentally infects people there every year. Or virus is planted knowingly there every year. Or the hygiene level is bad there and they don't correctly dispose of contaminated items after each outbreak. Because I'm telling you every year like clockwork Ebola makes an appearance in either Liberia, Congo or Sierra Leone. Make una stop to dey eat bats and other Bush meat na. That is what caused last outbreak
ReplyDeleteExactly my thoughts I have been wondering why? Every Year
DeleteEbola is like a yearly occurrence in that Congo now. Very scary. Is it that their hygiene or healthcare there is poor? Abi both. Or someone is knowingly planting the virus there ni
