Actor RMD Accused Of Contributing To The Early Death Of Nollywood

Years back, when there was still money to be made from making movies in Nollywood, actors Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Ekeinde were accused asking for too much as their take home pay (Genevieve was actually the highest earning back then with N2.5 million as her take home pay followed by Omotola with N2 million or thereabout)

This Former Waka pass actor in this post is accusing Richard Mofe Damijo,Nollywood's hottest actor for being the one who crashed the market because he was collecting too little as take home pay....

I really don't know what is responsible for the Collapse of Nollywood (Yes,the Industry has witnessed a nose dive over the years) but RMD is certainly not the reason......

There are several factors responsible for the nose dive of Nollywood and some are allegedly lack of seriousness by so many .concerned,envy,malice,strife,backbiting....etc

Who else knows why Nollywood nosedived....

  4. Nollywood is dying, because most of their movies lack content. Mere listening to some soundtracks, you'll know what the movie is all about, and they create unnecessary drama and suspense. My opinion.

    7. You guys blaming can you please explain, I don't understand. I want to believe DSTV will some dues or whatever before airing the movies. Or do they air these movies without the producers' consent?

Besides DSTV doesn't air latest films, the films they air are at least a year or so behind.

    8. They really lack content. You will watch one movie that will have part one to 10 with different names. Who does that? Within 15 mins they're done with part one..like seriously? Asabawood is even the worst.

  7. You have a cogent point there, but how can that alone be the be reason Nollywood become the shadow of itself? Btw, which year you enter Nollywood cos me I no know you o.

  11. When what they act most of the time makes little or no sense, you can tell the end of the movie before it ends, lack of quality content and storyline is the order of the day for them, why won't it nose-dive or somersault?

I've stopped watching their movies long ago. It's these new ones like Lala and co that's making me watch some of their movies. Leave uncle Richie alone jare, he's not the cause of their problem.

  12. You want to start pointing fingers this early mor mor. That's not the only reason, that's not even the main reason.Nollywood lacks content,no suspense,"the end" of most of their movies is wack.

  13. I tell you what, RMD is smart he was collecting lesser money but had many scripts to feature in and in the end it paid off ‘cause that little money he was “collecting” made him to be always in our faces all the damn time he’s even grown massively I can’t even imagine how much he will be paid to feature in movies now. RMD is smart and reasonable he wanted to be in it for a long run and it paid off.

  14. Why won't its nose dive, when they are still
writing the same pattern of story, ini edo is still
playing high school girl, even from the sound track
of the movie, you already know what the movie is all
about, I will rather watch my game of throne 100 times than
    to watch Nigeria movies.

  15. Our music industry has improved because of the local content put on international standard.

The content although local has been versatile, learning from music from the past, from other regions and styles. It has not been static and so people have continued to pay for it.

Now, the movie industry involves more people, but as Artist or as a producer they can learn from this to sell themselves more and make more earnings.

    Novice opinion

  17. This Stella sef, "former Waka pass actor". Chai! Very funny.

Anyway, I think the reason RMD was collecting that amount of money is because he still wants to be relevant. He was probably scared he might be dropped by the producers and the younger ones would take over.

Stella, do you remember Leila Djansi? that Ghanaian movie producer you interviewed when you were still Encomium Magazine? You interviewed her because she and Genevieve had a misunderstanding. She claimed she was going to pay Genevieve some amount of dollars to feature in her movie. Where is?

Genevieve is still the reigning Queen that's why she's being compared to almost all the actresses.

  23. The Genevieve and Omotola that were collecting over 2 million for a movie, where are they now and how many times have you seen them at location?
Let us not talk about the movies they fiance and produce themselves in-order to work, i am talking about who is paying them now to work?
This is what happens when you price yourself greater than your value, how much were the producers making to be paying such stupid amounts.
Solution solved - make other people stars as the movie will still sell.
Instead of paying 2M to one person for a movie, is it not better to pay 250 - 500k to many RMDs to feature in that same movie?
RMD did not kill nollywood, greed did.

  24. So when did shunning greed become a vice?
And when did joining greed become a virtue?
