SWAT Training Begins Monday Despite Ongoing Protests

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Sunday, revealed the qualifications of officers to be trained in the new Police Tactical Team to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad..

He said the training of selected officers for the Special Weapons and Tactics Team would commence on Monday, October 19, 2020.
.
He noted that no ex-SARS operatives were shortlisted in the SWAT team.

He also explained that “the officers selected for the training are young, smart and energetic officers who have acquired not less than seven (7) years working experience with clean service records – no pending disciplinary matters, no record of violation of rights of citizens or misuse of firearms – and are physically fit to withstand the rigour of SWAT Training and Operations.
.
“The selected officers shall be subjected to physical fitness test, medical and toxicology screening etc and those found to be unsuitable shall be discharged.”

  7. These people are strange.
Have they ever kept tabs on corrupt officers or those found wanting?? I doubt there are clean officers in the NPF. Until the better the pay structure and living conditions of the Men and Women of the NPF, they will not change their behavior.

  8. First off, remove all northerners from such position. The reason they act ignorant of all the protest going on is because the IG is one of them. A large number of policemen are northerners either by hook or crook and they are occupying top positions unlike their southern counterparts whom they gave the hungry man positions. In essence what I’m saying is, for there to be serious overhaul and reformation in Nigeria as a whole, they need to be ejected from the sensitive positions and make sure that every tribe is deserving to be appointed to occupy positions. We need to bring and end to their entitlement mentality on appointing their entire clan when most of them have no idea what the Job entails.

For Christ sake, these people are dragging and holding the rest of Nigeria back. Imagine what Nigeria would have achieved by now. They claim gold has been found in the north but it’s only for the north, right? While the oil is for THEM...... sigh 😔.
