The Army warned members of the public that sharing the images of such soldiers who die in active duty is unpatriotic.
The Army in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima warned that legal action will be taken against those that continue sharing such images after its warning.
Yerima noted that sharing such images is done most times without considering the impact it may have on the families of the dead soldiers who may have to read information about the death of their loved ones first on social media.
*It is not just the Nigerian army, people should stop sharing photos of dead bodies on the social media, its impact is devastating. You cannot try this abroad else you land in Jail....
I still cannot properly put into words, the impact of seeing my uncle’s dead body on blogs 5years ago. That is the most traumatizing experience a loved one can have. I also don’t understand how people can comfortably stand to film and take pictures of dead people. To what end please? It’s trash behavior!
ReplyDeleteIt is anguishing to find the gory pictures/videos of your loved ones in the News. Show some respect to the family of the wounded soldiers and those that paid the supreme price.

Have you seen CNN or Fox News share graphic images of their Military personnel KIA? They wouldn't even share the name(s) even if they have the(m) not until the Authority made it public. Or have you come across a graphic image of the US Military being circulated on Social Media.
Yeah the way people are quick in uploading and sharing gory picture is beyond me...Not only to Nigerian soldiers to every human being
ReplyDeleteIts not nice at all. Imagine seeing the picture of a loved one dead on the internet before you even got confirmation a call from relevant authorities. That is so wrong!

ReplyDeleteThey would have denied it as usual without evidence. I'm surprised they didn't claim the pictures were put together by Photoshop experts and political enemies . I haven't seen the pictures and believe it should be blurred out of respect for the dead and their families.
