RANT FROM SPONTANEOUS POST ON TUESDAY

Happy Tuesday people, I have a burning question, or maybe its a rant.

Do you open door for a husband's friend to come in when husband is not around. He said my husband is on the way but husband didn't tell me the friend was coming.

My husband is annoyed I didn't allow the friend to come in. I'm the only one at home. Friend is not happy because he helped secure the apartment for Canada, and I sometimes feel his sense of entitlement. Himself and family comes anytime without prior notice. A call when they're leaving their house which is just 5 mins drive is okay but they just knock on the door when I may not be in the right frame of mind to receive guests and my hubby says I'm not warm enough to them.

I may be wrong but I feel a call to say we are on our way to visit would help. So I can get properly dressed to receive a visitor. Am I wrong? My hubby cannot tell his friend to always put a call through...I dont know why. Maybe I should chill abi?...but this family have tabled my matter to the Nigerian community friends and the initially warm folks are turning cold

I should however say here that I'm not surprised about the gossip because when we arrived the wife slandered some friend of theirs we never even met and some church folks so na their way be that!!

I may end up not attending the church again because the wife go finish my matter there. Its a Nigerian church, just that its the only Nigerian church around here.

I think your hubby does not want to fall out with this friend... I understand how you feel but please bear and try to tolerate them until you move away from there.... it will happen when you people find your feet....

Or maybe you should also start visiting them without announcing too.... I am sure that they mean no harm and dont see it the way you do...take am easy...LOL

Juliana's Opinion

The older generation is dying and the younger ones are getting older and this makes me feel some kind of way.

Whenever I visit my home town, I'm usually overwhelmed by the changes around and when I seek the faces that I was surrounded by while growing up which were like permanent fixtures, I am met with the disappointment of their absence. While some of them are dead others are either bedridden or have gone to stay with their loved ones in the city or abroad, the next time you will hear of their coming back is to either pay a visit or to be buried.

I am in my feelings right now especially when I recall that I will never see my dead loved ones (mom etc) again in this life, it leaves me teary and full of questions, such as what is our mission here on earth and where we are going from here?

You don't decide to come to this world, you just find yourself here. I don't like the idea of being buried in the ground, it feels so lonely and musty, I guess nothing can be done about that.

Last Sunday was mother's day for Catholic faithful's and it took me back to how we celebrated it with my mom. Two of my mom's close friends have died this year, I assume they are reunited and their friendship reignited. Each time my siblings or relatives call me at odd hours or send me message that they have been trying to reach you, my heart literally falls into my stomach with the thought that something has happened to my dad, thank God he is heal and hearty.

Going home now just brings back the memories of all we had and have lost and one day it will be our turn to leave, all I pray for is long life and good health of mind and body Amen.

Belated Happy Mother's Sunday/Day to mom's all over the world.

Hmmmm what kind of sad writeup is this?

    1. BV from Canada, life is not always black and white. You did wrong not letting him stay and wait for your husband. You should have called your husband to let him know his friend was waiting instead. Calling to say they're coming is the right thing to do, but since they don't do it, then accommodate and tolerate them as much as possible.. I'm sure they mean no harm and consider your family a family reason why they don't call..

    2. I hate it when people don't inform me before coming to my house and when you calmly correct them they feel you are proud. A particular acquittance will not call before leaving her house, she will now be shouting my name from the gate disturbing neighbors, the last time she came during lockdown (can you imagine) I refused opening the door for her,she stopped talking to me since then. This is someone that is aware of our fear of Corona and that my family and I totally stopped going out. I called such people asonilenu

On privacy issues, dear poster, it's really saddening that some people don't know how to preinform people before visiting them. Like Stella said, kindly visit them unannounced too, the way they react would make you know your next line of action, if you should tolerate their random visits or not.

That drug has really been abused for "something else" cos another Lady nearly passed out same year at my Lodge then..

  16. I will look and look very well at my spouse's phone. It is OUR phone 🙄🙄😊😉.

So I can be informed. Duh!!

That visiting unannounced, it depends on how you see the person. Someone I love can visit unannounced at any time and I will not feel anyhow about it. But there is this particular person though a relative that irks me anytime he visits. Whether he preinforms us or not 🤷🤷. So poster I guess you don't really like that couple.

As Stella said, just manage. It won't be forever. Cheers...

  17. Good afternoon all,
Poster with guests who come visiting without prior notice, you sound like someone who love her privacy, please take it easy with them like Stella said. Since he was at your doorpost already, you should have opened the door for him. Some folks just like to visit unannounced, personally I don't appreciate it but must welcome you when you come.

@Juliana's opinion I always believe those who are no more with us are in a better place and even though I love them, God loves them most. They've lived their life and we're living ours. Truth is we will all go someday, the question is are we ready for that day? What legacy will we be leaving behind? Is our current state of life heaven bound?

😂😂😂 That unsolicited advice of staying away from your partner's phone, why do I have a feeling it ended in tears. I'm not one to snoops even if your phone is right in front of me and I have the opportunity to but for those who love to do it, please do it with wisdom. I know snooping has saved so many lives.

  25. Nigerian Church + Abroad do not mix well. If you want to really prosper abroad without the distraction of gossip and stupid competition and strife stay away from those 'only Nigerians' churches... Really most are no good.. If you must stay with fellow Nigerians then pick and choose your own friends with same outlook in life as you. I think it rude that someone will turn up to my house without the courtesy of informing me first... Not nice.

    1. There is nothing wrong with Nigerian churches abroad. Gossip, competition and strife are not exclusive to Nigerians and their churches. It’s you the worshipper, that should face what you went to church squarely, and not involve yourself in unnecessary competition, gossip and whatever you listed there. People will gossip, compete whether you want or not but your coming to church, you pray, partake in worship, give offerings and after grace, you carry your bag and go home should not make you an object of people’s discussion. Enough of tarnishing Nigerians image home and abroad, we are not the only country with inhabitants abroad please

My friend and I are not friends anymore because they wanted me to tow a particular career path, live in a basement to save cost and buy particular clothes to save cost. All these come from a good place but not following your advice doesn't mean I hate you. I am married, we are adults, my husband can make decisions for our family as he seems best. Because our decision as a family is different from yours should not make us enemies.

I don't attend a naija church cos of all these dirty talks. I'm still trying to plead for forgiveness and would now add gossip to the list. Please do not let them lead your life and home.

My friend was extra surprised at my new career path and where I work. They couldn't believe it is possible. I will not limit myself based on people's experiences or limitation.

  26. Anon... is well jare. Am certain that post has helped a lot of persons. People are really going through a lot these days, especially and chiefly because of the situation of the country at the moment.

I just made some comment not quite long on that post titled "Has Suicide Ever Crossed Your Mind?" My answer is affirmative, but thank God for where i am today.

Stella permit me to paste my submissions here again. Am sure it will help someone.

"Suicide has different stages and levels. Recognizing the phase you are will go along way to help you heal or drift back to life.

First stage start with FAILURE. Failure is the precursor of Suicide. Not managing failure well will trigger the next phase of your journey. It is important to know that failure is not your bus stop but stepping stone to your glorious future. Manage it well.

The second stage is FEAR. It is normal to be apprehensive when things doesn't go the way we want it. But nevertheless we should always get back to our feet and spur our self back to action. It might not be easy but it is doable and more convenient. Fear is a silent killer. Choose Faith above fear, Hope against despair.

The third stage is CONFUSION. When you dwell so much in your fear, confusion set in. Confusion upset everything and it make you useless, because you can no longer focus on any positive thing. When in that state of confusion, don't relent, ask yourself "is there any way out? is there any place i can get help?" At this junction seek help. Find a mentor or a good friend to pour out your dilemma to.

The next Stage is FRUSTRATION. At this point, you are gradually encroaching and sinking deep into the territory of the Monster Suicide. When you get to this point, seek for help also. See a therapist, talk to a reliable superior. Don't bottle it up there, speak to someone. Your helper might be out there. It might be shameful to talk about but say it. If you don't have someone to talk to, Write to Stella Blog about your situation, Bvs might help you with a solution.

Please this is a crucial stage, make sure you don't bottle it up and don't also speak to the wrong person.

The next stage is DEPRESSION. At this junction you are already in the Domain of Suicide just that you are not in her vicinity yet. At this point, you are almost giving in. You are about to throw in the towel. Also at this stage, you start getting withdrawn from people. This stage is critical. The things that can help you at this stage are, the people in your life, how much they mean to you and also how observant they are and willing to help you out. Also your resolute plays an important role at this stage. Even if you are at this stage, seek for help and don't lose hope.

The next stage is SUICIDAL THOUGHT. This point, you have cross Depression and thinking about suicide becomes the order of the day. Note that there is a thin line between this stage and the formal. One can even be inter-switching between them. You still need help at this stage. Find someone reliable to talk to... it will go along way to help.

The last stage is ATTEMPTING SUICIDE AND COMMITTING SUICIDE. THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL AND WORSE STAGE. If you are still alive after the first attempt, then know that there is much in stock for you. Your destiny is really great. Please don't try it again, find closure and find good people around. They still exist or Talk to Stella a.k.a Jewelechi, am sure it will come handy.

This write-up might not provide all the solutions you seek, but the essence is to help you see the stage you are in now and how to retrace your steps.

Most often than not, most of us don't even know we are depressed or almost close to committing suicide.

I hope this write-up helps you and i pray you find the closure you seek.

SUICIDE IS NEVER THE ANSWER AND IS NOT THE BEST OPTION.

  30. Bv Juliana, I totally understand where you are coming from. This right there is the sad reality of life, our immortality. But what can we do, but give thanks for the privilege of being among those that were born and live a good life, devoid of illness or other calamities of life.
The Canadian BV, I will implore you to exercise restraint please. As we have entitled people at home, so does we have them abroad. Ask God for wisdom, and please I beg you, never open doors for uninvited guests please, because men, they only believe what they want to. Let your husband see you as being principled. When next he rings the bell, rather than answer the door when you know you are not expecting a visitor, don’t answer the door. When he calls, don’t pick his call, except your husband’s. Tell your husband to clear with you before you allow men in because when issues comes up and he accuses you, you will let him know your stand but for his go ahead, you would never have opened doors to uninvited guests. Wish you all the best
