Have you noticed that every almost Nigerian living in Nigeria wants to relocate to Canada to start life afresh? It is whispered that the Opportunities to start a new life there is 100 percent guaranteed.
Media personality Shade Ladipo talks about her first few months in Canada....
She posted...
It took me exactly 16 months to find a job that actually pays what I deserve and aligns with my career path in this new land called Canada
Not everyone has to go through this path, I have friends who got amazing jobs immediately they landed in Canada but my process is something I wouldn’t trade for the world
So many times I wondered if I made the right decision on starting my life in another country because I had to go through so many challenges to find, lose and rediscover myself
I’m super thankful for all the people around me who constantly reminded me of who I am especially at the times when I was doubting myself
Today begins a new journey as a Diversity and Inclusion Advisor for an amazing software company and it aligns with everything I want to achieve in this part of the world and on a Global scale
Remember it’s not IF you will make it, it’s WHEN
This is my #Thankful face in starting a new journey and enjoying the sun
I’m coming for everything they thought I couldn’t have and some extra''
Congratulations sis.
ReplyDeleteCanada is home for all.

ReplyDeleteQuick memo to the Nigerians getting job offers even before they land in Canada. Here's the truth of the ratio of Nigerians getting jobs in Canada:
ReplyDelete1. Less than 1% who are healthcare workers ( Drs, Pharmacists, Nurses etc.) Get jobs shortly AFTER writing their qualifying exams which usually takes a couple of years to a good number of years, until they write and pass the required exams, they do a lot of manual labour to pay their bills.
2. 2-5% Extremely skilled software programmers, they write code in different languages that wow their hiring managers along with a few other highly skilled IT positions.
3. 90% of those who got good jobs "in less than 3 months" got those jobs because their resume already had the Canadian experience required. Nigerians who landed in Canada last week already have resumes with a minimum of 5 years Canadian experience. They use work experiences from the big 5 banks and other large enterprises where it is difficult to verify their claims. They get connected to these WhatsApp groups who introduce them to the people who prepare these FAKE resumes for them, so much so that now, Canadians are getting wiser and are now beginning to ask for your PR Card before offering a letter of employment. They compare your landing date with your years of Canadian work experience. Nigerians have developed a reputation here for job scams and the bubble will burst soon. Most of those who got good jobs this way, end up blacklisted later and they don't know why they can't re-enter the job market, after a couple of wonderful jobs.
4. 5% have held onto integrity, got whatever jobs were required to pay their bills, from labour to temp positions to gather some professional Canadian experience. Starting again from the scratch takes an average of 3-5 or even 7 years but they eventually catch up, move ahead in their careers and are at peace because they have nothing to hide.
Nigerians please be honest with your "testimonies" all you do is show-off to oppress your fellow Nigerians but the truth about how you got your "testimony" is always hidden. Don't let innocent people relocate and get frustrated when your "miracle" doesn't happen for them.
9:40, thanks for the honesty & insight.
DeleteGod bless you. I don't know why people like cutting corners that will later backfire, what are you teaching your children? Most of this people feel they are smart but they are the most stupid set of people. Doing the right thing brings peace of mind.
DeleteExactly! @ "cutting corners... what are you teaching your children?"
DeleteTruth and integrity = "Doing the right thing brings peace of mind." 👌👌👌
God bless you for this
Delete...and the data source is ??
DeleteDont know where u copied this from but most health practitioners I know, wrote their exams, passed n got jobs within months on passing, unless Canada is different or the write up is confusing me, dunno.
DeleteSome even travel to write d qualifying exams n return, once they get confirmation that they passed, they apply for jobs right from Nigeria n get it, they just move over n start.
@11:36, the data source is that scam resume you are using as a Business Analyst with 10 years Canadian experience when you only landed in Canada in May 2021...
DeleteAnonymous 9:40, where did you get your data from? People of God do not let anyone fool you, your journey in Canada is not tied to any Canadian experience or whatever. I do not want to say it is luck aand God because some people do not believe in God, I do but that is besides the point. Let me give you a first hand account, someone joined his wife in Europe, leaving his good paying job and over 10 years of work experience. For 2 years on EU, no job for the hubby, he moved to CA and got a good paying job in his field within 2.5 months without puffing his CV in anyway, with 2 years of not working, so where is the Canadian experience? Ppl relay stuff they read and not necessarily telling their reality or the reality of people they know. This person did not even do any odd job whatsoever. This is not to say that every body will succeed in CA because every one has their own destiny but to also tell you that a lot of ppl are succeeding as well.
Delete@Blackberry, I meant that approximately less than 1% of Nigerians who come to Canada are health care workers but they get jobs almost immediately after passing their qualifying exams. If some health care workers are beginning to write their exams before relocating, that's a brilliant idea and yes, there's no "Canadian experience" requirement for health care workers so they have no barriers to gainful employment.
DeleteThis anonymous is right to some extent. I am a professional here and I know how much hey hammer on Canadian experience. I have no doubt that some Nigerians manipulate their Resumes to get jobs quickly. As a professional in a regulated field like medicine or law, it will take you some time to start practicing as you need to obtain your license first! And do not be deceived, Canadian employers are very big on Canadian experience! I have no doubt that a very few people get jobs right away on landing but that is not the case for the majority.
DeleteAnon 9.40, you are right. Even the Canadian locals' resume is not as powerful as the resumes these Nigerians tender. You see employment history like: RBC: 3 years, TD: 2 years, KPMG: 3 years, Government of Newfoundland: 4 years and CIBC: 2 years, the caliber of organizations they claim to have worked with is so powerful that their resumes overshadow those of the locals. The average time it takes a Canadian to get a new job after losing their old one is 4-6 months but Nigerians are getting jobs in less than 3 months. Just like the email scam has closed doors for Nigeria all over the world, the Canadian experience scam will have its fall out eventually.
DeleteI got my Canadian citizenship in April and will be renouncing my Nigerian citizenship in July. Light and darkness have no business together.
ReplyDeleteOh Canada, my home, sweet home. May God continue to bless this land.
🤣🤣🤣🤣@light and darkness
DeleteWow!!!
DeleteCongratulations dear.
Bilo renounce it, if it is not working, believe me IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK!
God bless all these Countries giving us reasons to thrive!
you are allowed dual citizenship you dont know what tomorrow holds where are the rest of your extended fam won't you visit them at all ???..I think you should not be so hasty just keep the passport one side ..I am dual as well and tomorrow I may want to come back I dont know yet
DeleteSo she do japa leave us.
ReplyDeleteAnd she'll be subbing us from all the way Canada.
Her own better.
It is well. I don't blame all those leaving Niaja. Naija is survival of the fittest with God's help we would make it all in life no matter our geographical location. Its just that some people are doing it out of desperation and frustration not having a direct plan on what to do when they relocate at the end of the day they become misfits or start doing dishonest jobs as a means of livelihood. In the abroad pple lie on thier CV to suit the job requirement.
ReplyDeleteDiversity and inclusion, sounds like an affirmative action job to me. It's better than nothing sha
ReplyDeleteCongrats Shade Ladipo.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it’s sad that Nigerians are only ‘allowed’ to share their stories as a testimony. We are always mocking each other. If she was still a cleaner she wouldn’t be able to share her experience.
May God help all of us to relocate from this hell of a country called Nigeria.
ReplyDelete@Blackberry.. that's not true for Canada! What you wrote up there applies to UK. I'm a medical practitioner in Canada so I know anonymous 9.40 is right to some extent(I don't know the percentage)
ReplyDeleteDo not renounce your Nigerian citizenship. Nobody knows tomorrow. We all have our Naija expired passports and will never renounce it. I’m in America, there are Canadians on the immigration queue in the US. Most of Canada is cold and uninhabitable and opportunities aren’t as many as in the US. If you want to relocate to the US, you will need the passport of your birth country. I’m in healthcare in America and I settled in 2 years to God be the glory. Those 2 years I was working in my field in a junior position while taking my exams. That was in the US and over 2 decades ago though
ReplyDeleteMe too I want to relocate o... I have an EU passport but lives in the UK since a couple of years but I don't feel at home here... Anyone can help...Info about me, I am back to adult education because the EU country I lived didn't give me that opportunity...I will really appreciate any information
