DeleteSo there is a viral video of Tope Alabi condemning a gospel artist of calling God "Oniduro"
ReplyDeleteRegarding Tope Alabi and her comments.
Scripture is replete with several verses where Jesus Christ is refered to as our Advocate with the Father. Jesus himself said in John 14:16 that he is not leaving us without comfort because after he has left, he will send us a 'Paraclete' referring to the Holy Spirit. Praclete is interpreted Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby.
"Oniduro" which Alaseyori called God in her hit song was badly spoken of by Tope Alabi. She claimed God told her to shut up when she wanted to sing the song that He God is more than Oniduro.
I personally believe Tope Alabi is wrong for her harsh critisism. Oniduro means a guarantor. It can also be loosely translated as an advocate or someone who stands in gap for another. These and more is what God through Christ and his Holy Spirit is to the Believer.
Referring to Christ as our guarantor takes it further than an advocate. A guarantor is a surety that pays the debt of the person they are standing in gap for in case of default. I believe guarantor/surety captures the work of Christ at calvary. Jesus to the believer is our redemption. Tope Alabi has no point saying Christ isn't oniduro.
Tope Alabi's video is quite distasteful but more distasteful are the believers in the crowd nodding and shouting in affirmation. Men and women of God are not celebrities. We all are equal before the father. No one has monopoly of access to or revelation of the Father.
Dear Christian,
Read your Bible for yourself. ASK QUESTIONS. Don't accept everything IRRESPECTIVE of who is saying it. I have listed a few scripture below that further give clarity on the advocacy role of Christ and his Holy Spirit.
1 John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an ADVOCATE with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
Hebrews 7:22 NIV
Says "Because of this oath, Jesus has become the "GUARANTOR" of a better covenant".

and to Jesus, the MEDIATOR of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

In fact Tope alabi fall her own hands, Haba why bringing another person down? So to herself now ,she's now the holy spirit spokes person, when she sang "otin Jesu n Pami" did anyone condemn her, its between her and God, besides oniduro mi that yinka called God is right, cos its only God that's the dependable guarantor and solicitor.
