NEW COLUMN
MY OVARIES OH

My motherhood journey has being rewarding, watching my babies achieve certain milestone brings me so much joy, my ovaries can’t help but tingle. From the cute cooings and laughs, to sitting, crawling, walking and talking. Educational milestones are not left out.

These kids make me look good a lot.

The flipside, when they don’t reach certain milestones on time, this can be very stressful, you are not just dealing with the worrying, feelings of inadequacy sets in. Dealing with nosey people can also be annoying. They are quickly ready to point out areas you are failing, giving unsolicited advices here and there.

My first was very big, people including family members suggested that I must have no self control when it comes to food for my baby to be that big.

By one he wasn’t walking, I became bothered because kids his age group were already walking and at gatherings people never failed to ask and as usual give advices or blame me. One constant blame I heard was, I must have been cuddling him too much. I started to dread going out, medically he was fit and all and I was told he was just taking his time. But by the time he was a year and three months, the pressure increased from friends and family, supposed good “ Christians” started suggesting traditional solutions, by this time I had developed a thick skin and would put people in their place but I was greatly relieved when at a year and four months, he got up one day and started walking.

Since then we have had high and low moments, I have learnt to turn a deaf to negative criticisms and I do my best never ever to compare my kids to other kids. Also I don’t go about giving unsolicited advice to other moms .

Nice writeup

Last week i talked with someone whose ten month old daughter was already walking and then i was gisting with someone yesterday and she said her 14month old son is yet to walk....

I think little girl babies are faster in growth than little boy babies.......

Motherhood is awesome but it is the most stressful all day all night Job ever!

Disease has no place in me, for I’m born of God. Christ dwells in me and my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. I’m fortified by God’s Word and strengthened with might. I’m more than a conqueror by the power of God’s Spirit. The Word of God has gained ascendancy in my life and it prevails over my spirit, soul, and body. Amen.

  19. Re: Stella Single And Mingle ish.
Stella, I was the one who posted that comment. Let me start with the 29yrs old guy. I asked him how come he was searching for a "committed relationship" online. If he wasn't able to get a lady in "real life". He said, he has female friends but doesn't want any of them because, they are still in higher institutions and doesn't want to be burdened with their school fees. Don't get me wrong,I understand where he is coming from but, who knows, he might not have to pay their fees and all that, if he can wait for a year or two for the one he truly desires to be done with her first degree.
Now, to the age thing. Formerly, I do say, the man I marry must be older than I am. Then, I realised that, a guy could be younger than I am, yet behave way mature than an older guy. Then I was like, I would give a younger, sensible guy, a chance.
Met one. That one, you fit they talk A, he go bring B. And the B no go just make sense at allllll. Na SnM I meet am sef.
I got a friend I am few years older than. He earns way more than I do but, today, he will ask for money for one thing, tomorrow, it could be that he is sick, another day, it could be one thing or the other. I gave him on like two or three occasions and one time, I told myself, e don do. Mind you, I never asked him for anything. I am not just wired that way. Guy man change for me. He vexxxxxx. Come block me. Me, wey still dey use friendship eyes look you. Omo, I was like, good riddance to bad rubbish. Na SnM, I meet am.
Another younger guy. I met this one in "real life". Young man is the definition of a "perfect gentleman". In this our perverse generation, I found a man, who still burns for God. Tall, dark, handsome, super kind, everything. But, when we sought God's will. We weren't His will for each other. Mehn, we wept. We were heart broken. And I don't want God's permissive will, else...
We are still friends, through the years.
One anonymous was yapping under my comment. I shook my head. If "it" was sensible, "it" would have known I stated age range for a reason. A worthwhile reason not some nonsense reason.
I am usually not an angry person. I am super fun but, I was just so pissed at people not adhering to instructions and na him dey affect us, especially for school.

  39. gosh how do people cope in this country? got to work today and just felt like eating ewa agoyin and bread. gave them money to buy the food in a pack for me...i wanted 100 naira beans and small bread. when they brought the beans I was just wandering how someone who has only 200 naira will eat that beans with bread and be satisfied. it was like just 10 spoons of beans. Beans that should be one of the cheapest food for people. the 100 beans wont be enough for my child not to talk of a full adult who was doing say hard laborious work. so to eat comfortably you cant spend anything less than 500 naira. how are people really coping especially those who earn daily wages?.. I had a drink and I knew I would eat something else later, but I was just thinking how people cope with this hardship and food getting so expensive daily...I really really felt so bad today. how are people really managing with this whole hardship. honestly it really touched me today.

See how you backed your baby, the neck is not good, tie her well.
Why are you using a carrier when you should back her with wrapper?
Is that how to breast feed a baby? carry her well na etc

My baby walked at a year and 4 months when she was good and ready, Her leg seems bent (they say) take her to a doctor for xray, bla bla bla. ME I just bone. I knew that my baby must walk, plus I didn't have extra cash to throw away. Mothers are trying No be small.

For my four children all grown up now, one walked at 9 months, one at 1 yr and 4 months, one at 1 yr and one at 14 months. Even time for teething is different for each child. Las las they will all be fine.
