Deuteronomy 14:23

Read and be blessed

New International Version

Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

New Living Translation

Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God.

English Standard Version

Berean Study Bible

Just give some time, maybe even years and try to notice what happens.bible wisdom explains that becos you are being blessed doesn't mean that you are actually blessed.you are only enjoying grace of sth that has a duration attached to it.there's a difference between grace and merit.grace is good.but merit is better.but its best to have both.in this part of the world if you keep hold on to grace alone without working on your merit,I am sorry to say;its just like wasting your money, time & energy . ciao.

Anon, l have stopped paying that scam of a thing that pastor's converted for themselves.
This tithing issue started to reign in this 2010 till now.
Remove tithe and see most of them drop from pastoring.
I ask again, did Jesus Christ our High Priest collect tithe while on Earth? It was not his place cause he was from the kindred of Aaron. He wasn't a levite! He left that line for an order that has been in existence but our new generational pastors are jumping in to collect on behalf of Levites.
I keep my money for myself.
They have even converted life sacrifice or seeds for money. They prefer you bring it in an envelope than life.

    1. To who should you give? The Bible says he who gives to the poor lends to God. Jesus said what you do the LEAST OF MY BROTHERS, you do unto me. How is taking money to a business centre to pay for AC, private jets, private school business, additional branches, marketing, posh cars and lascivious lifestyle giving not to talk of giving to God? Give to those hungry aged people in your family whose poverty you mistake for signs of witchcraft and then you can better fulfill the call of God.

Pastorpreneurs and their lackeys will still come here to twist Deuteronomy 14. If you still give out your hard-earned money to any crook who calls himself a pastor, you're worse than a moron.

Let me elaborate it the more, tithe is from the old testament but their "gods of men" will pick only that tithe from old testament and condemn the rest
of old testament with their usual line "it is finished".

They(gods of men) will even put fear in their sheeples body that if they don't pay it that evil will befall them.

I even heard redeem churches have tithing card...

      Ndi eriri eri.

      Delete
    2. Chile, it's not only Redeem that has card. Most churches do mine inclusive but they do force you to pay.

Yes it is believed its for God.

But why they have card is because, if you as a member have any financial issue, they check your record and help. Now whether you have being paying completely or not as far as your name is in the record, you will be assisted because, your money too has helped some other persons out of trouble and others will help you.

Except you are jobless, a widow or widower then you are exempted from all these and the church will still help you when the need arises.

In my church, we see it as brotherly contribution to help one another in times of crises and records are taken down. In fact it is banked and not cash in hand

My dear @YoriPrincess paying tithe is important but your life shouldn't revolve around it, there might be situations in life where everything would be tight so you're telling me you'd use the only money you have as tithe? in the end tho do what pleases your heart and soul but make sure its not done out of undue influence from pastors/men of God..let's all be guided

      Delete
    3. @yori.pls preach it to the people here.this is 2021.yet some are still angry over the topic of tithes.it seems some here don't like all round prosperity, end of one's battles etc.my dears never confuse your offerings for tithe.they are very different, yet powerful in their own way.
I am a full supporter of tithe payment.by God's grace, when I own a company, tithe payment(not to the poor, but in church)will be one of the major reasons for me to employ the person.after tithe now, maybe the next topic will be on offerings.are you people not tired?..how much is this tithe..10% and some of you are still complaining?...is that how you love poverty and lack of spiritual development?...God doesn't use our tithes and offering to give us money.he also gives us spiritual gifts, establishment, stability, salvation and money etc.
so many people have suffered a lot and are hurting inside.they keep using scriptures to argue their way prematurely out of a dicey situation/challenge,rather than trying to understand and solve it.
I believe in tithe payment.i believe in giving offerings in a good church.i also believe in giving to the needy, less privileged, beginning in the church.pls don't force yourself to pay tithes when you don't understand lest it doesn't work for you.we all are still growing, especially when it comes to the things of God.peace.

    4. How were our ancient ancestors paying tithe before the white man introduced Christianity to us? Does it mean God wasn't blessing us? Just so we know, the tithe thing is a Judaism custom adopted by Christians. Christianity didn't start until after the death of Jesus Christ.

      Delete
  8. It simply means bring the tithe to that place God has shown you to and give it there...mind you, that place must be in His presence and not just anywhere (bar, strip club, hotel, party, whatever wherever).

When you give (eat) your tithe in church (His presence), are you not enjoying the benefits? In terms of infrastructural development of the place of worship, evangelism outreaches, charity works and so on.

What you should be interested in is where you eat (give) it. You may be giving (eating) it at the wrong place where God did not ask you to and that's why you don't get the benefits and then you feel you've been wasting your money.

So where you give (eat) your tithe is VERY IMPORTANT.

    My humble opinon please.

The choice to give is yours.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No

That's not what it means except your church believe is different.

The four Sundays you see in the card means you can split the money (pay as you can weekly) then by the last Sunday, when it is added up, it will make up what you intended to pay as 1O%

But still, pay what you have & don't bother about other Sundays & move on.
God knows & sees your heart

  13. Abraham paid tithe to Methuselah, before the law, as an act of faith. Tithing and first fruit all came before the law and as christians we do not practice the law. Right now, we give tithes, first fruits, seeds, offerings as our faith in God who is our source, not to obey the laws of Moses that has been abolished.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Abraham represented the priesthood of Moses, the covenant at Sinai. Methuselah or was it Melchizedek represented the priesthood of Jesus (remember you are a priest forever verse about Jesus.) Which means the Jews should be paying to tithe and Christians collecting it since their covenant is a more prefect covenant. Now tell me, how many Jews have credited your account with ten percent of their hard earned cash when they are not mugus. It is Yoruba and Igbo fraudsters that will be pretending to be Jewish Levites, defrauding you of money that you should be using to properly clad, wine and dine your family to the glory of God. Abraham is the father of Jews hence the writing from Paul to the Jews/Hebrews saying that they should be like their father Abraham. Christians have the blessings of Abraham without having to fulfill the law. Did the apostles collect tithe from anyone? Did anyone pay to them because of infrastructure/! amenities/ feeling of fear? Christians who should know perfect love of God are cowering in fear that their God is wicked and relegating themselves to the level of slaves.

  14. This tithe matter will be debated until the second coming of Christ- especially in Nigeria and by Nigerians. Na when this tithe matter start to "dominate" preaching for Nigeria na im fake Pastors come plenty full everywhere. Before tithe started being the focus of most "church's" sermons, believers were giving lands and huge sums for church projects.

People/families would build and donate a "church building", another family would donate pews and musical instruments to the choir, even farmers would always send produce to the mission houses/shepherds/indigent members and God's ministry was moving forward. The poor attended church without worrying about not having "offering" or tithe to pay then. Even Jesus said the poor will always be among us but some Naija pastors obviously didn't get the memo.

Now, some churches even have a "register" for donors and tithers. If your name no dey that book, no involve pastor or church for your matter o. Nobody go "answer" you. They forget that it was one person who "had" five loaves and two fish that donated what Jesus used to feed the multitude without condemning those who brought nothing. It's like Stellz did not see the UAR version that Nigerian pastors use. Hian! Find am o.

    Only one church:👇

    1. First Sunday offering
    2. Seed sowing offering
    3. Church project donation
    4. Harvest levy
    5. First fruit offering. That one is your entire January salary without removing one kobo.
    6. Monthly tithe. Another 10% of your salary every month.
    7. Church maintenance collection
    8. Special donations. That one can be for anything or everything.
    9. Broadcast (evangelism) donation for churches wey their pastors dey appear for TV or radio.
    10. Normal Sunday Sunday collection etc.

Meanwhile, minimum wage na 30k o. No be make members carry gun remain in order to "meet up"? Later dem go say crime is on the increase😠. Abeegiii!

    1. "....They forget that it was one person who "had" five loaves and two fish that donated what Jesus used to feed the multitude without condemning those who brought nothing..." Seriously, I support the idea of supporting God's work after all, church maintenance costs money and Pastor needs to sustain his family but overtime, this is now being abused. There are some churches that if you don't have money, you will be feeling ashamed/inferior and they might even shade you directly or indirectly.

I always remind myself, that there is no church or denomination in heaven, na personal relationship with God sure pass, if churches and pastors are becoming a distraction, person gats shift and face their heavenly race squarely.

Read all the Bible verses on tithing and then understand the spirit of the law. Then you can properly assess the relevance or non-relevance of tithing in our times.

  16. I used to tithe faithfully for many years and it was good, I started losing interest in church and church activities and have stopped church for almost 2 years now, I still pray, meditate on God's word and receive revelations. I started paying my tithe to the poor and desolate members of my extended family since last year and God has still been faithful.

I don't think it's wrong to pay in church, I also don't think its wrong to help parents/family/those around you in need with it.

PS: In those days, tithe was grain and meat from your field and flock so eating it in God's presence meant holding a banquet in the temple where you and your family as well as the priests and others that serve in the temple can partake, widows, orphans, beggars and desolate people were welcome to this banquet, remember Ruth and Boaz, these traditions have evolved overtime, Boaz didn't even go to the temple but all his workers and all the desolate around him including Ruth and Naomi were encouraged to partake. Giving/sowing and harvest are universal principles that will always come to play as long as the earth remaineth, don't let the activities of some churches and pastors spoil your mind.

    1. I congratulate you for finally sowing on good ground. God has said he does not dwell in buildings built by humans and that his temple here on earth are his body or people. He also said he who gives to the poor lends to God. Enough of the scam in these businesses called churches. Christians ought to study to show themselves approved lest they be taken advantage of by scammers.

  18. We should remember that most churches have employees, utilities bills, rentals, evangelism bills, etc. to pay.

In God fearing churches, the tithes offerings, donations and gifts are used to pay for all those.

Some churches don't collect tithes and offerings at their services. Yet members fund the churches work beyond the vexed 10% tithes.

Let everyone study the Bible and pray for divine wisdom to

Deut. 14:28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29so that the LEVITES (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the FOREIGNERS, the FATHERLESS and the WIDOWS who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

    1. How many descendants of Levi i.e. Jews of a certain tribe attend your church? How can an Igbo or Yoruba man claim to be a new and then a Levite despite being a Christian?

Didn't the apostles have jobs? Didn't Paul abandon his law degree to make tents so as to fend for himself on his missionary journeys? Why didn't Jesus collect tithes while on earth or any of his disciples? Is private jet an orphan? Are luxury hotels and apartment complexes fatherless? How come these people take money from widows to build schools that the fatherless cannot afford to attend and then pocket all the school fees as business profits?

All the apostles were Jews yet none collected tithes. Even Peter had troubles balancing his job with his ministry till Jesus blessed the work of his hands and then told him "Peter, feed my sheep". Enough of lazy men and women selling salvation and enslaving the elect who have refused to know their God.

  22. The truth is that God does not accept every offering. Your offering must come from a repented and sinless heart. So, it is ridiculous to see people write thesis on ordinary ten percent and why they don't want to pay it. Go and find out first if God knows you, before arguing about giving Him money that He will not even accept. God is not begging for your money.
