Labour Room Drama 308

It took nine years to visit the labour room....

The pregnancy:-

Sometime in October 2020, I was at work one evening and I was just having cramps. In my mind, I was like when will this period come jor. The next morning, it continued in that manner I just had to FaceTime my husband. We spoke at length at my break time and he even joked about me being pregnant. I got mad at him saying ''oh there is a pandemic, why would you bring a child here in this state''?

Towards the end of my break, I went to the bathroom. Upon arrival, I noticed I could perceive the cleaning supplies they used and it upset my stomach to the extent I vomited. It was at this moment, I told myself I might be indeed pregnant.

Once my shift was over, I went home, ran upstairs to get my pregnancy test in the bathroom cabinet. To my greatest surprise it was positive.

The nine month experience:-

I’d say I had it good as a first time mommy. Below are the symptoms I had.
1. Sore breast
2. Implantation pains
3. Lots of pimples
4. Scary dreams
5. Bleeding gums
6.leg cramps
7. Sleeping beauty syndrome ( till the end)
8. Sensitive nose to fragrance
9. My love for ice( symptoms of low iron)
10. Hiccups

The changes in my body:-

I went from a size small ( in few clothes to a medium (bottom). However, my breast went from a size C to a DD.
Thank goodness I didn’t have any stretch marks because I used Shea butter and coconut oil from day one.
My neck became darker and I became one shade darker.
My nails grew longer than I once had them, my hair grew from bra length to waist length (still praying it doesn’t fall).
Overall I was thankful.

The 9 months doctors appointment :-

November 2020, I started seeing my doctor once every month. I remember my first scan at 8 weeks, when I saw my little baby, I cried so much that the sonogram lady started consoling me. I’d never seen any thing that beautiful.

Fast forward, the day of the gender reveal we got ready, it was an afternoon appointment. That was the first time they allowed my husband because of the covid, the hospital allowed one guest for gender reveal only.
That day was so precious because my baby waived at us. The sonogram lady was thrilled and I’m so happy I caught it on camera.

The D day:-

On the 31st may 2021, I started having bad period cramps. I couldn’t even clean the house or move from point A to B. However, I noticed after a while the pains goes away.

On Tuesday, June 1st I had bad diarrhea I’m not kidding you, I had used about 13 rolls this very day.( I never knew all this while, I was in labor ) I remember in my online classes, I was told look out for the bloody show. I never had that. That afternoon, I had to call my husband to change his flight from Friday to Wednesday because I wasn’t feeling it.

Later that afternoon, my husband had pissed me off, and I got off the phone. I was able to get 2 hours of rest. At about 6:56 pm, I started painting my nails while still in bed, I felt a gush of water. In my mind I was thinking it was a number 2 that I couldn’t make it on time to the toilet. Once I got up, omg, it was like someone poured a bucket of water down there. I was in a state of confusion that I actually went to take a shower, then I called my husband he was like “CALL 911”.

I called the ambulance and in less than 6 minutes they came and got me to the hospital.

That evening, I was in great panic, my blood pressure had gone up so high and my heart rate was also high. I was given some medication to normalize it. At about 9pm when I woke up, the contraction pains was out of this world but nothing I couldn’t manage. I was checked again and I was only 1cm. I felt so disappointed because I taught the labor must have progressed.

At about 3:45 am, the pains got to a 7, and it was very far apart I had to ask for epidural ASAP. When the anesthesiologists came in and administered it. It felt like heaven again..

The following morning at about 9:45, my husband was already in the hospital.

I was finally induced and my labor progressed significantly. The nurse and medical team were so kind and professional. They worked with me, encouraged me in the whole labor process. Finally at about 6:00 pm my daughter flew out. I had a second degree tear, but was stitched and repaired down there.

While I was being sewn down there, I noticed my baby didn’t cry well. There was a huge influx of medical team trying to give her oxygen. Immediately I started praying in tongues, reminding God of his promises. I started making declarations telling God after 9 years, the enemies will never steal my joy.

Immediately God came through and everything ended in praise.

Baby had jaundice but after much phototherapy, she was fine and in five days we went home.

I’m 3weeks postpartum and everything is great now. I’m healed completely.

To all my fellow TTC mommies, if God came through for me after 9 years, hold on and keep thanking him. Also I was placed on folic acid and b12 for 5 months to conceive.

Please forgive me for any typos. I haven’t had sleep in 3weeks.

*Hahahahahhaha you have not slept in three weeks? Forget the idea of full sleep like sleeping beauty from now on... try and sleep once the baby is sleeping...

Congratulations.

  25. Oh dear congrats. I was happy when my sister took in because she has been TTC for a while. When she told me on phone that she might be pregnant,I was so happy. Was just dancing and singing all around the house. When the bump started showing it was so beautiful, like goodness me seeing my sis pregnant with a baby bump was like seeing me, I was seeing myself . Lord knows how Happy I was. She gave birth ,but lost the baby, my goodness I cried so much when the husband called to inform us.they came to take me to the hospital and my eyes were all swollen Because of too much crying. I was really looking forward to seeing the baby. It's been 2months and anytime I see babies,I just wish the baby stayed
