Nigeria's EX Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun Says She Was Traumatised Over NYSC Brouhaha

Nigeria's former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said the ruling of the Federal High Court that she could serve without the certificate of the National Youth Service Corps has vindicated her..

She said this in a statement issued by her legal team hours after the judgment on Wednesday.
.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in the judgment, held that Adeosun was not qualified to have participated in the scheme when she graduated at 22 years because she was then a British citizen.
From @punchnewspapers on Instagram.

*Yesterday I read it was because she was 36 years and now today another reason. I am happy her name has been cleared but is she taking up another post?
I am asking because in Nigeria, there is always a reason for Resurrecting oh.
Congrats in advance...LOL

  1. Traumatized that she forged the discharge certificate or that she got caught? These people talk anyhow, do they think we’re stupid? She was let off because her appointment does not require the certificate. It’s not ok that she had the audacity to falsify one 🙄. Hell, we are traumatized from their BS

    1. She did not forge anything, didn’t know anywhere in Naija and was naive when she came. She was over 30 when she came to live in Nigeria for the first time and if there was a forgery, someone did it to cover a non existent track. I’m not sure she performed so I’m not defending her but she didn’t have to resign. What is the fulani woman doing there? Do you think they will resign over what Kemi resigned? Her husband is more streetwise and a “Nigerian” so Niyi or “others” “may” have tried to do that, but it was an unnecessary thing as Kemi was born and raised in the UK and didn’t step foot here till the cut off point. Southerners chase their own over trivialities. At least she is a CPA and has a little real life experience and she wasn’t born with a silver spoon, her mom was a cleaning lady for decades before and after she was born. Her siblings and her kids are still in England and never moved here. At least Kemi can relate to regular folks more than the born to rule folks. The born to rule woman there now will be stealing without doing anything. Yorubas that Sunday Igboho was fighting for that are abusing him over SM! Does your President have a high school certificate? Let’s relax in crucifying people. I know her and knew when she came into Nigeria. It was an orchestrated scandal by those who put her there to make her a scapegoat. I’m not defending any looter or office holder please just saying a forgery was unnecessary, couldn’t have been by her and is a mute issue if she and her handlers had explained without panicking. The powers that put her there needed her out for a fulani woman so it’s deeper than that. Kemi was exempt when she came to Nigeria.

    4. Anon 8:34, a forgery is a forgery is A FORGERY!!! Don't sugarcoat it and pad it like they do the national budget.
We know all those ones there are sunder heads but it still does not excuse the fact that Kemi was very aware she was getting a forged certificate.
Stop excusing her not having lived in Nigeria as a reason to be clueless, leave matter.

    8. @8:34: See how you turned around and around and around in circles just to arrive at the same conclusion that BVs and Nigerians did long before you probably figured it out: She forged her certificate! Simple.

We don't care if she lived in space or if her parents were refugees, she was wrong! Madam Kemi committed a crime that she wouldn't dare commit in the UK without expecting severe consequences. Stop trying to justify crime because "many are doing it" and you know her personally. Since you know her deledele, tell her that "what is bad is bad." Don't lead or push her into the gutters of deceit. Forgery is a crime. Tell her the truth if you are a true friend.

  9. I guess she’s about to be offered another job with the federal government. Hence, all this. Shameless lot. A lie is a lie.
Did she or did she not fake documents.
She did. Whether she went to the people herself or her husband did it doesn’t matter. She was aware and she was a willing participant. Based on that, she should be disqualified from holding any governmental office position in future. PERIOD!!!

She never forged the certificate. She knew she was exempt when applying for office in ogun state, those helping her back then, said they would get her the exemption certificate she needed from nysc.
They got her the exemption certificate and she understandably believed it was the correct one.

It was when she got into federal office that it was brought to light. This is why the attorney general has never charged her with forgery.
She tried to do the right thing and went to the wrong people for help.
They probably took money from her and tried to get the exemption certificate the easy way by forging rather than doing it the correct way. And she has now suffered the consequences.
Its a really sad story but a big lesson for those of us nigerians born abroad and looking to enter nigeria to serve. Corruption unfortunately is at all levels and it is wise to take care of some things ourselves to avoid situations like this.

    1. Thank you for your objectivity. The truth is that her handlers panicked when they saw she wouldn't be relegated to a ministry for women affairs or culture and tried to find a way to corner her to do their bidding. With the sound CV she had, they had nothing on her but when this exemption certificate came up, of course she delegated to the same people who pretended to be helpful not knowing their motives. Having gotten her to tender a document she didn't need or officially request, she being a novice of the Nigerian system, they thought they had her cornered and would just issue commands from the cabal or national assembly and she'll be unable to refuse. It was wise of her to leave their job for them and move on to other better things. These seedy corrupt people did the same thing to Prof Grange during the Yar'adua era. Most ministries are really run by the perm sec and certain directors from the favoured parts of the country. Many agencies are run by the politics of the board and the members of the parliament delegated there. Before a contract is issued for a single biro supply, they will first sit on it. I've once been cut off abruptly so a highly placed head of an agency could spend a few minutes cowering before a board member who sounded like a certificate wielding airhead. This oga even had villa connection yet as he told me while apologizing, he won't be able to get anything done without grovelling before this man who could barely read. Another time, a worried contractor walked in to find a serving minister on his knees before another oga at the top in a previous administration.

Kemi was naive and it cost her but thankfully, there is no proof she went by herself to obtain this certificate and if she is lucky and the pawns were sloppy, there would be no further story so names don't get mentioned and emails or texts don't get dug up. This is how Okonjo Iweala saved herself from the snares that caught Dasuki- keep your receipts that say "Oga said I should tell you to do xyz" and copy the person who gave instructions. The only way they would have tried Ngozi isif they are willing to jail Jonathan because she compiled and collated evidence.

In Kemi's field, the dangers of leaving a distinguished career to come and work for the government of a largely ignorant population are well known. From the strides she has hit since leaving Una work for Una, it is obvious she is seen as a gladiator who survived. I hope she is not foolish enough to come back and pick any public sector portfolio. There are a million and one options in the private sector across Africa that actually pay big time. Ask Sanusi.
