The Court, which was expected to start hearing the case at 10:00am on Monday July 26,2021, began sitting at 5p.m after the police ejected Igboho’s supporters and journalists.
According to reports, the session lasted till about midnight, when the court decided to hold Igboho in prison.
The BBC reported that the police had brought Igboho to court as early as 7 a.m to beat Igboho’s crowd of supporters and he spent over 15 hours inside the prosecutors office as lawyers and the state argued whether to release him or detain him further and after long hours of deliberation, decided to detain him further.
Many supporters had jammed the court early today, in expectation that the case would come up at 10 a.m.
Nigerian government accuses Igboho of trafficking in arms, inciting violence to disrupt the public peace and agitating for secession and wants him sent to Nigeria by extradition, Nigeria and Benin have no extradition treaty.
Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, last Monday while trying to catch a flight to Germany.
However, Ropo, who is a German citizen was set free by the court on Thursday.
Igboho was remanded in the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou.
He was placed on the wanted list on July 1 by the Department of State Services (DSS) after its operatives raided his Soka residence in Ibadan.

To tell you how stupid and useless the country system is, isn't secession(self determination) enshrined in the Nigeria constitution? Why bringing it as a charge? Do this people know about the constitution or they are just being deliberately mischievous.

DeleteThe court did not reject the extradition request, read other newspapers. There is no self determination in the 1999 Constitution. There has never been self determination in any of our Constitutions since independence. Take the pains to educate yourself please. Nigeria is not stupid and useless despite our challenges. The Constitution made it very clear that Nigeria is indivisible. You live within the laws of our land or you fuck off. You are in Port Harcourt singing about Biafra, why not move to the south East and encourage other Igbos to leave the SW, SS, NC, NW and NE. You guys should go, nobody can stop you. Remain in the SE and be demanding for Biafra from there. Before expressing your views about any specific issue, be sure you have the right information, if you don't, go read about it.

Afenifere, Oni of Ife, Olubadan of Ibadan, Yoruba politicians, they all sent representatives to republic of benin. Ezeife and his Ohanaeze group, igbo politicians who were cowed by Kanu are struggling to be seen supporting Kanu. At the end, despite the pretence loyalty is to there ethnic group. So why is it a problem for Buhari to be loyal to the north.
