Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to Daily post.
He said the new born baby was kidnapped on Wednesday after a woman delivered twins at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital Kano where she was admitted.
Kiyawa explained that the incident happened when the woman’s sister, who was looking after the babies at the corridor of the Maternity ward, slept off.
He said a team of policemen immediately stormed the scene and launched a search and the hospital was sealed off and thoroughly combed, but the child could not be found.
“Sustained efforts, coupled with intelligence sharing led to the arrest of one Maryam Sadiq and her husband Abubakar Sadiq all of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano,”
Kiyawa said the child was recovered from them in their home and had been reunited with the family.
The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command for discreet investigation and would be charged to court after the investigation.
*Imagine!... if you cannot have a child then adopt one, there are so many children out there in Orphanage homes looking to be loved and cared for....

Family A is very happy reuniting with the lovely new born. Family B is cooling their heels in detention and may just go to jail probably after many years of trying with enough fasting, midnight prayers, IVF, looking unto God's face and not getting results. Meanwhile girl C has just abandoned her new born in a refuse dump and passers by found it dead while family D had decided to sell of one of their kids to feed the rest of the family. In all of this, God is just watching, doing absolutely nothing and allowing the world blame the devil.

ReplyDeleteMost Nigerians are so selfish that they hardly ever consider adoption as an option.
ReplyDeleteThe government isn't making things easy too, by not having an adoption process that works
or any incentive to encourage it.
Adopting a Child in Nigeria is an herculean task, maybe that's why some of them tow this path. No excuses though.
