SERAP Set To Sue President Buhari Over #ENDSars Panel Report Indicating Lives Were Lost At The Lekki Tollgate.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has threatened to institute legal action against President Muhammadu Buhari government to compel the arrest of soldiers and police officers involved in shooting EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State.

In a series of tweets, the body urged the Buhari government to compel payment of reparation to victims... It disclosed that it would file the suit on Wednesday, November 17,2021 with the EndSARS Panel report serving as part of its evidence.

SERAP says....
“BREAKING: We’re suing the Buhari administration to compel it to immediately arrest the soldiers and police responsible for the shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki-Toll Gate and pay reparations to victims.

“Please indicate your interest to join the suit by stating your names.
We’re filing the suit first thing tomorrow morning; so please indicate your interest

“We’re also following up with our petition dated 21 October 2020 to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court by forwarding today a copy of the report of Lagos #EndSARS Panel as additional information and evidence.”

In June 2020, soldiers and police officers had shot some EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State. The Denial that no one was shot became viral.

The incident had led to a widespread protest across the country.

A panel was later set up to probe the incident and it submitted report indicated that lives were indeed lost that Lekki tollgate..

    2. The list was underplayed because why, some of them with gunshot wounds at the time the panel was summarising died from the injury. Then again some families took the corpses of their loved ones and did private funeral in a quiet way.
Mabel Nnaji was one of them. Eesah one day you'll know the reason why elderly people advise us the young ones to avoid anything capable of making a public to lay curses on us. One day one day you will.

  7. They shouldn't bother wasting their time and resources when the outcome is already obvious. The important thing is that the truth has been established.

  8. SERAP is always ranting and suing senselessly. A report was submitted, why not wait for the white paper to be released and gazetted. Buhari doesn't have the powers to discipline or dismiss any policeman, soldiers or civil servants. The governor of Lagos invited the military not the president. Only the police service commission can discipline and dismiss policemen, just as only the civil service commission can discipline and dismiss civil servants. How do you go to court based on a leaked report. Everyday on twitter SERAP issues their childish and watering treats, even when they win in court the judgements amounts to nothing. Those who want to cruise with report of the Lagos panel are already raising their ugly heads. Over 300 innocent Nigerians detained October 2020 for participating in the ENDSARS protest are still in detention. Why didn't SERAP go to court to fight for their freedom

  9. Not just SERAP. Nigerians fight for justice to be done. Nigeria will not get better until we take justice seriously.
