Jaruma VS Nwoko - Kaya Mata Seller Jaruma Granted Bail After She Was Held For 2 Nights

Jaruma was arraigned before an Upper Area Court in the Zuba area of Abuja on Monday for alleged defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation of business man Ned Nwoko, on social media.

Nwoko had accused Jaruma of publishing falsehoods on her Instagram page against him and his wife, Regina Daniels, who is an actress.

The judge, Ismaila Abdullahi, on Monday ruled that she should be remanded in the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the bail hearing on Friday.

Juruma arrived at the court premises in a black veil around 11:20am.

Ruling on her bail application, Abdullahi said her remand should not be seen as a punishment to the defendant.

He, however, warned all parties involved in the matter to refrain from actions that could be considered prejudicial to the case.

He said, “The court did not remand her in custody as a punitive means to penalise the defendant but to make her present and answer to her case. By this, I shall be quick to point out that the charge against the defendant is bailable but not ordinary.

“I hereby grant her bail on the following conditions: That the surety must be a level 12 civil servant working within the FCT. Also, all the parties involved in the case should stay from anything that would be prejudicial to the case.”

He, however, adjourned the case till February 23 for hearing.

  1. This situation is a friendly reminder that when we hear that certain ppl are evil and a snake and it keeps coming up over and over again by different ppl, do not go seeking them out or anybody close to them. Snake don strike release venom. All for wanting to fit in with the popular ppl at the time. A real sad tale.

    1. What does "Ruling on her bail application, Abdullahi said her remand should not be seen as a punishment to the defendant" mean? Is the jail house supposed to serve as a hotel then? Why didn't they let her wait at her home since she had satisfactory surety?
Well, next time she will pick her fight wisely.

  4. I do not know if it is because it is Regina and their hate for her that people are attacking her because I am yet to see what she did wrong in this issue.

You paid me to influence ur product, I did and then u started asking me to do things I am not ok with and I respectfully declined and u agreed that I should do it my way.

A disaster happened and in a bid to market ur product, u decided to use lies to claim that I was the reason my husband’s wife left knowing fully well that i never used ur product (there are chat evidence already)

Now people are saying if I don’t believe in a product, why be an influencer of such product?
Do you think Davido uses Infinix and Whitemoney uses Tecno or that Mercy uses Hawaii soap to bathe?

Business is business biko. I will not turn down a 10m naira deal to market a product for any reason.

Abi all those insurance marketers, u think it’s all of them the use what they are selling?

    1. Eka Joy,

Very we stated. But like most people (you inclusive ma'am), once we don't like someone or their partner, we become sentimental rather than analytical in our reasoning.

    8. I don't condone Kayanmata in any way but from a legal/business point of view in this case, there is no proof that you (the influencer) never used the products. That you said you did not is simply hearsay. If the products were delivered to your house, you may have used it and said you did not. Unless you are able to return every delivered product (chocolates, beads, blue eye, whatever) in its unopened form you can't really prove you did not. And them beads are already sold in opened form. So if you wore that stuff even for a second, you used it. Maybe it takes a second to reach effectiveness. Either way there is still wrongdoing because the verdict is:
1.You used the product and now claim you did not OR
2.You did not and actually misled the public
Both are grounds of deceit. I really don't care but I'm glad the younger generation are seeing how deceitful social media and influencers can be. I hope they learn.

    9. About Davido using Tekno or Mercy using Hawaii. This is where ethics come into play. You may not directly use it but will you allow your family member or loved ones use this product? Influencing means you either use it or you recommend it. I'm sure Davido or Mercy won't mind their close ones using Tekno/Hawaii or even themselves using it for a day. If you are denying a product it means something is wrong or shameful about the product. For ethics of self, if the product is a big NO for you or your family member, then it is immoral to influence that product just for money.
      1. Same as the market woman who sells meat cooked with tablets or gutter water that she & her family will never eat
      2. The chemist selling expired drugs that he & his family will never take
      3. The Landlord who used substandard materials to build a house he knows he & his family cannot live in
There are so many examples... if you cant taste that food, why sell it to others?

    10. A Pepsi ambassador in the US was sued and made to pay because she was snapped drinking coke. It's deceitful to claim to use a product and influence others to use a product you don't use.

    11. Social Analyst you are correct.

She shouldn't have accepted it. Gina ...you didnt play your part very well.
