Sugarcane is a fruit, its sweetness shows it's ripened to be plucked, just like other fruits. Why not say..... May we get husbands/wives when we are ripe for marriage, just like fruits, etc.
DeleteIf sugarcane is not cut off, it is just plain weed. It would rot and die and nobody would ever know how sweet it could be. It is only sweet because it was cut off and had the opportunity to reach its full potential of nourishing tastebuds. Some analogies though.

When you're involved in God's work, it's easy to get out of balance and end up enjoying the work of the Lord more than the Lord of the work. One day Jesus took three of his disciples to the top of the Mount of Transfiguration. There must be a balance between taking in and giving out. One day a year, the high priest entered the holiest of holies and had the privilege of seeing God's glory. What an honour! But the rest of the year was spent outside, ministering to the people. After an encounter with God during which the building shook, Isaiah cried, 'I am undone' (Isaiah 6:5 NKJV). Then God touched his mouth and said, 'Go, and tell this people' (Isaiah 6:9 NKJV). Are you getting the idea?

I thought about this just a few days ago. I totally share your view. Whilst I believe Christians should financially support the gospel, I also believe ministries should trust God for financial provision rather than actively soliciting for funds CONSTANTLY.

My new place of work, my boss's wife won't let me be. Everyday come to my church, come to my church, your life will never remain the same 🤦♀️its just exhausting.
My other senior colleague is saying I should come to her own church also which is different from my boss's wife's own. Yesterday she said 'last week I invited you, you didn't come, you must come this week o'.
My boss's wife, ever since she heard I'm catholic, it's as if i committed an atrocity, 'you must leave that church and be saved, blah blah blah' I know I have a friendly face and I smile alot but I'm really starting to get irritated by all of them, plus I just started working there this January.
And let me just say that its not just these two, I've had so many experiences with people from other churches, aren't we one Christian body? What's with the 'my church is better than yours' complex? We need to stop that rubbish abeg.
Anyway, please someone give me a polite way to tell both of them to fuck off.

That explanation by the UK High Commission on why Nigerians should be taking IELTS is just as fraudulent as our so called elected officials. Inasmuch as government of Nigeria might not have powers to cancel the exam on account of English being our national language, they should have a say in drawing the fee down! If government can not take on DSTV of South Africa on it's subscription fee, is it the UK government they will take on? Our government, truly does not represent us at all. Ask folks residing abroad how it is with Nigeria embassy in their respective countries of residence.
