Chronicle Of Blog Visitor Narrative

 Hmmm.....

STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
COLLEAGUE BROUHAHA

Please how do I go about a colleague who has refused to learn?

He’s been on the job over 3 years before I came in last year but was posted to my department last month. It took me less than 1 week to learn everything I need to know on the software we use which he has been using for the 3 years he has been here but different phases.

Now, I don’t know if I should say that he’s reluctant to learn this. I need to go for leave but that’s until he learns but he doesn’t show any sign of seriousness. If I report him, they will move him back to his previous department which is like a demotion cos he prayed and fasted for this promotion. And I’ve been covering up his mistakes but it’s affecting me and I’m tired already.

Please guys, your advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

*My dear please do what you have to do!....Is he a child? does he not know that if he is reported he will be demoted? Why is he not sitting up? He has taken your help for granted and you need to disconnect...
Do what you have to do to give yourself peace of mind.....

Even if you dont report him, go on the holiday and let him expose himself......

    1. I like the personality I perceive behind this chronicle. You sound really smart. In the work place, love and mutual care is encouraged but not at the expense of getting the job done. You don't need to warn or report him. Simply send in your leave application and let it pass through your line manager early. Give at least one month notice and let this staff know the date. In your weekly meetings, always point out your leave date and the fact that he will taking over from you. Also do your handover notes early and send in for approval, making he gets a copy early. When the date comes, you go. It's the job of your line managers to appraise and supervise. Let them be the ones to make decisions about him and where he should be.

I don't really understand why it is so easy to write chronicles but difficult to have dialogues. If she had dialogued with this dude, she won't have written this blaming chronicle.

  2. Call him and let him know he has limited time to learn and master it. Let him know someday you will be away and he will be required to use the software in your absence and failure to be able to use it might be a set back for him. Just let him know why he needs to step up and help him too.

  3. Since God has gifted you like Daniel and co, with the aptitude to learn (fast), why not teach this man this software?
Have you taken time to pray for him, seeing that you took time to write a chronicle?
We all have our different areas of strength and weaknesses. God expects us to help others in their areas of weakness.
    Shalom.

    2. Even when the person doesn't show interest in putting effort to learn? ABI I didn't read the chronicle well

This has nothing to do with prayer abeg. You can't force a horse to drink water.

Didn't you read where the poster said that he was reluctant to learn? All these so called hypocrites and wicked christian, always looking for an easy way out instead of working.

    5. The writer has stated clearly he/she has been covering up his mistakes, tired and due for a leave and you want them to PRAY for someone who prayed and fasted to get tothis position but is not LEARNING FROM HIS MISTAKE?no one is saying be a fast learner(im not either )but why make d same mistake repeatedly with a software you have used at your WORKPLACE for 3 years????

Thanks for understanding my comment. I wonder why only one word "prayer" was what the rest understood in the whole comment. The issue is, how would this writer have wanted to be treated if she is the one finding it difficult to learn? Or is she master of every knowledge on earth; definitely not.

    7. Whether we believe it or not prayer is needed even in the smallest thing of life. Phill. 4:6-7. Bible said in All things. Poster kindly bring him closer to yourself. Everyone is not a fast learner but when they learn, it will be impossible to forget. Above all pray for him.

Yes, if she didn't write it, then she hadn't been teaching him. Period.

  5. Just remember that this man's daily bread is what is at stake here, probably with lots of dependents. Why not approach him and ask him if he "wants to learn the much you have learned?"

    1. Approach his colleague and ask him what exactly? Who between the 2 of them needs the knowledge?

Since he knows that this job pays his 'daily bread' and 'probably has lots of dependants', shouldn't his first responsibility be to learn and upskill as quickly as possible?

What he has not learnt in over 3 YEARS, 1 person came in and learn in 1 WEEK. Some people are saying 'slow learning' yadi yada yagu.
Please, this is not primary school ,it's an office.

If e sure that the head is not for gathering smoke, should he not have swallowed his pride and SHAME and humbly asked the new employee to teach him?

Instead of constantly bungling things, making costly errors, dragging processes back, preventing the new employee from going on leave, allowing the said colleague to carry more than his fair share of the workload etc etc etc.

I know these type of lazy mo.therfucktards.
I've worked with their type too many times. Always the first to do the barest minimum. They invent innovative ways of being lazy every day while trying to appear busy.

      Busy doing nothing.

Poster, unless you are the head of department, it is not your responsibility to teach anything to anybody. If your colleagues require teaching they should HUMBLY ASK, and if you wish, GRACIOUSLY ACCEPT.

The office space is a BATTLEFIELD.

      A BATTLEFIELD.

You are there doing Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms Nice...and I pity you. By the time that person wake up one morning and spins this entire thing around ehn, your eye will open like aquarium fish.
Better be careful, have everything documented as much as possible, face your work and prepare for your leave.

      A. Draft your hand over note.

      B. Inform your colleague via mail and verbally when you plan to go on leave.

      C. Go on leave.

      D. While you are on leave, ensure you get a new sim to use and switch off the regular sim. Make sure your regular sim is only available for a limited time after official hours ie 8pm -9pm.

      E. Resume on appointed day.

I don see these typa lazy oafs plenty for my career, if you give them chance they will use you to do their own work, frustrate you severely in the process and still gossip jackshit behind your back that your oversabi too much lus plenty lies etc etc.

...'daily bread'is at stake with probably 'lots of dependants'my nyansh.

  6. Tell the company that he has learned and go for your vacation. Then you will know if he is pretending or not.

  7. Help him and sit with him ,ask whether he can cope when you will be on leave and if he can't do your best to know his area of weakness and let him see that it maybe exposed in your absence

    ReplyDelete
  8. Send him official mail on why he needs to learn the job. The mail should be in a calm tone then send. You don't have to copy anyone. You need it as an evidence. Give him some time after you send the mail for him after which you can go for your leave. If he doesn't learn it after the time given to him say 2 weeks. Please don't pause your break on his account

  10. But she has been teaching him the software.,.or did you not read where she said, he
shows no seriousness? Everything is not about fasting and praying, he should put in the work!
Or perhaps he has refused to learn from you, as 'real' men don't learn from women..(sic)..stop spoon feeding him! High time!

  11. Please help him,you can sit him down and discuss with him, some people are slow learner's by default.please help him.

  12. I don't understand why some of you are putting the onus on him to put that man through, even in his ineptitudness. You people are so annoyingly sentimental in everything include shouldn't be. You got a promotion but can't work hard and another person is taking the blame. We have a very long way to go in this Nigeria.

  13. Please, can you kindly go on your leave? As in leave immediately you are due. Please. Thank you.

This life na per head. He will do another fasting and prayer when his job is threatened. This time, he will combine it with night vigil of learning the application. Just wait and see. Before you come back, he will have become a pro.

Don't report him. He will do that by himself by failing to meet up the demands of his job when you are away. That time no be pesin go tell am.

Go on your leave. He is not serious abeg.

  17. Experience has shown that no one is indispensable in an office except if you are the owner. If anything happens to you today, you will be surprise on how well the company will cope. You are less than six months in that company (new) kindly be careful before you report anyome. Every office has those they call... 'touch not' and every office has its unground politics. Just trade carefully. If he has refused to learn, make efforts to get your leave letter signed and proceed on your annual leave. His incompetence will be exposed in your absence.

  18. I guess most people here in the comment section DO NOT understand the work environment. How can you say "pray for him", be patient with him" etc? There should be no sentiments here at all because you have tried for the guy and he is just taking advantage of that, what if it was the boss he was learning from? Would he be this lazy? Go on your leave when you have to! Sentiments and bringing in religion in places where you should be practical is what is holding alot of people back.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Do you have a process flow manual documented of how to use the software to perform assigned tasks? I recommend that you take some time to document one if not and send it to him copying your boss. It shows that you have initiative and are proactive. Take your vacation please, if he messes up that's his business.

  20. Reading comments here shows that we don't understand the work environment. Pray for him ke? LMAO, can't believe someone actually suggested that. I am the Finance Director in our organization, and mediocrity does not thrive here. 3yrs of learning? I have seen all sorts and believe some are sooooo lazy when it comes to doing their jobs. And you see these kinds, they are the worst kinds to work with. They act so nice to get the management to like them, they are even ready to go to your house to wash plates and clean your house for you. What they lack in professionalism, they make up in gossip. I have been in management for a long time and my advice for you is this, make all your dealings with official, copy your supervisor in all your correspondence with him. Proceed on your leave when approved. He is not competent, have you asked yourself why he was promoted? Forget about his claims about fasting and praying. Be very careful. His type won't survive a year under me , they always want to get close to their superiors with gossip about their colleagues, that is how they get by.
