Make a diary, immediately you notice blood coming out , write down the date and time. Also monitor your flow; how it increases by day then decrease to the last day. Note how many days you flowed, put it down and the day it stopped.
DeleteNow, from that first day blood dropped is the first day of your cycle. Take note when your period starts the next month, count from the first day of last month’s period to the first day of your current period. That’s your complete cycle calendar. You will do this regularly for three to six months to ascertain your cycle calendar.
Please, do not take any contraceptive pills, if possible abstain from sex because some persons tend to menstruate quickly other than the usual time if their cycle is just close by . If you are able to track the number of days of your cycle , you should be able to track your ovulation which is more tricky than menses cycle itself. This is because not every person see the slimy smear like others. It differs in people. While some feel more horny during ovulation some do feel otherwise.
Easiest cycle for me to calculate the ovulation is the 28days cycle . From first day, the ovulation is the 14th day but you have window period from the 10th to 16th day=not safe if you don’t want to be pregnant.
But if one has irregular periods, longer cycles, you either try to use ovulation kit to track your ovulation if you are married, or get in contact with your healthcare provider to guide you through.

Download a period app and login your details, eg, number of days your period last, days it takes before seeing your next period etc so the app will calculate the rest for you. I use an app called flo and it has been very helpful to me. It helped me track my pregnancy and alerted me on my ovulation and free days.
