    1. The defence was never for Chidinma. The commendation is for the Correctional Services in their effort to make the life of inmates bearable and not treat them like animals. If they have prison programs for inmates, why should it bother us who benefits from it so long as that individual is serving his/her time within the walls and not roaming free?

Some of you will still be angry if souls in hell fire sometimes engage in small small activities to pass time.

    2. Don't mind bvs that were acting civilized yesterday. How can I see the killer of my father or husband having her beat time in prison? Is that the justice we always campaign for killers, kidnappers. If it's like that then crime rate will still be high knowing that enjoyment continues in prison mtchew

    6. Please lets be guided on the kind of things we promote on social media. All these armed robbers, kidnappers read news with their phones too.If we keep supporting them to have the best time in prison the crime rate will be even higher because they know they can't be killed. Just like the case of the Brt driver that killed an innocent girl, tommorow now we see that same man in the prison having all the fun, how will the parents of the victim feel? Please lets condemn this act and call a spade a spade. The murderers shouldn't be part of prison enjoyment period.

  3. my thoughts about this girl is if all evidence is there why has she not yet being tried and convicted? so we still dont have fingerprint experts or people that can gather enough evidence yet? that someone confesses does not even mean they are guilty, a lot could have happened and that girl might just have been used. if the prison officials did not advice her better on participating in the pageant why blame her when she has just been remanded in a home and probably like others looking for some happy moments in confinement? I still believe there is more to the story than we know

  6. I made a post concerning this on my facebook wall yesterday and few people came and told me that the place is a correctional facility and they need things lime this for their sanity. The case is whether its for their sanity or not that picture and video of chidinma smiling and being crowned as queen of the prison yard shouldn't have been online if at all.
She is still standing trial and the families of Usifo Ataga are still mourning. It is still fresh, not up to a year sef. She premeditated and killed that man in cold blood, what sanity are they trying to make her have! A murderer can never be sanity and like I said except it was in self defense or mistake that was not fair on the family and mourners. It hurts me too, it hurts. Maybe if she had been convicted maybe I wouldn't feel this way, maybe.

    1. if she premeditated and killed him in cold blood why has she not yet been convicted? if it was indeed a drug influenced murder why should she not have some moments of sanity in her life? so if it was the victim who even forced her to take drugs why now blame her because he is dead? Nigerians like unnecessary sentiments...

    3. @anon 13:03, accept my deepest condolences for your loss. The truth is it is a correctional facility and these kind of entertainment is often held there. If you have visited kirikiri prison, you will understand that it is just photos.

    4. 12:47, what's more sentimental than stretching ur imagination to come up with all manner of scenarios and excuses to try to exonerate a self confessed cold blooded killer? Meh una try dey reason things with objectivity on this blog, abeg.

    2. If u are not aware of her first confession and various circumstantial evidence already against her, then u are obviously not following the case. Other than that,u are probably the killer, her relation, friend or accomplice. It's really that simple.

    1. What kind of people do you think should partake in this kind of activity? Because you know chidimma's case, do you know the crime the other participants must have committed?

  9. No one in their right sense will support evil or applaud one. No one will exonerate Chidinma from the charges leveled against her but truth be told, she still have her fundamental right as enshrined in the constitution. Infact, in the eyes of the law, she's still being seen as innocent until proven otherwise by a competent court ruling and judgment. The fact she participated in the show doesn't mean she will evade justice if it's proven she's guilty. My only grouse is that, such pictures shouldn't have made it to the net. The other ladies that participated with Chidinma, do you guys even know their own crimes?

I speak not just for Chidinma alone but for inmates undergoing trial or the convicted ones. They still need to be taken care of and made to undergo life changing activities, so as to make them a better person when they are rehabilitated into the society after their time.

Even a criminal on death sentence can still get presidential pardon if remorsefully they see a changed person in the convict after some number of years that convict have been in prison.

Chidinma need a sound mind to undergo her trial and not torture or isolation.

    1. Tjay, you even missed the point small. Even if she has been convicted to be a serial cold blooded murderer and sentenced to die, that individual still has right to live in dignity till execution is carried out.
I love the part you asked if we knew what crimes the other girls contesting committed.
Please dont mind them. What they should be clamoring for should be for the head of whoever released the pictures to the public and causing victims relatives and loved ones more pain.

    2. Leave the other girls. Chidinma is the person ppl are aware of and whatever they say about her would still hold for the other girls, if the circumstances are similar. Then speaking of human dignity, beauty pageants and the like are over the top entertainment for criminals who shd be living in remorse and striving to better their lives. Teach them skills, offer guidance and counseling sessions and the like; not throwing gigs and using taxpayers money to offer them cruise like nothing happened. It's really not that hard to reason.

      Delete
    3. Life changing activity shd not be the likes of beauty competition; and definitely not for someone with a murder rap over her head. Speaking about the crimes of other inmates, we may not know what they did, but the prison authorities do and shd act accordingly. As regards remorse, does that person strutting down the aisle up there look remorseful to u? Pls don't try to justify the indefensible.

Law aside, what is even human or dignified about a cold blooded killer?

  10. All those commenting yesterday, that they are still humans and deserve to smile. I know these activities takes place in prison, but that picture really hurt me. Imagine the doctor that was killed by his houseboy a day he was to travel out, imagine his family seeing the picture of that boy smiling and being celebrated somewhere. Do you know the hurt? pains, anger the family will feel? I know this activities takes place yearly in prisons and it doesn't get leaked out, why was that one leaked out? Murderers deserve not to be that happy, cos the family of the love ones they killed are still heartbroken, sleepless nights, nightmare. Someone bread winner was killed and the person that killed him his smiling and enjoying. No problem in them having the activities but let it fu***king ends there. I know someone that couldn't make it when his son was killed. The children now are with relatives all because of a criminal and you all dare to make excuses for them? God. One even said so because she is a criminal she shouldn't smile? God

    1. So what would you rather be done to the criminals? They already know their lives are over. You should pay a visit Nigerian prisons.
Don't get me wrong, It's clear you are emotionally vested in this story but can I ask would you ever forgive them? Or you want the same punishment meted out to them?

    2. @ Lady Diana, just to answer though I am not thr anon. I will never forgive anyone who kills my loved one or is involved in my loved one's death especially when the person is not remorseful and never apologised for the act.

I do not want to see the person happy.

If I am miserable and mourning, why should the person be happy?

If such activities take place in the prison, all good, it should not make it to the internet. This case is a sensitive one. That is why the bible said wisdom is profitable to .....

Chidinma should be involved in activities that shows she is remorseful for now and not gallivanting all over.

    1. Both for murderers and kidnappers that murder without conscience? You people are so quick to make excuses now but when a case of murder is being reported, you people will still say they deserve to die the way they killed the person.....double standard

  13. She should have been denied some certain privileges while in prison, Yes, prisoners engage in such activities but a high profile suspected murderer like this shouldn't permitted to participate. If we see R Kelly hosting concert in jail, do you know the kind of uproar it will cause?

  14. Just because an act is not illegal or immoral doesn't mean it should be done. The element of optics should not be underestimated. There are certain acts one should refrain from because it would be perceived as an act done in poor taste. True, she isn't a convict. Also true, our criminal jurisprudence dictates that one is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Why then is she remanded to prison custody, if she is deemed innocent? Shouldn't she be on bail, prancing the streets till she is convicted? She is in a correctional facility awaiting trial and not on bail because the offence of murder is the most grievous offence in the criminal code/penal code of all the states in Nigeria. Courts rarely grant bail for a defendant accused of murder because it carries capital punishment.

Once a charge of murder is preferred against a person, almost all bets are off until one is declared not guilty by the trial court. One mustn't participate in a beauty contest to have a sense of belonging, there are other more productive and mind building activities one can participate in and not look like one is sticking the middle finger in the air at the family of the diseased. After all, not all the female inmates participated, no?

Personally, I think this is too soon and the alleged offence too grievous, for such pictures to be circulated. It can even be injurious to her case. She doesn't know the mindset of the judge trying her case. Once a judge has a preconceived notion about a defendant, bias always comes into play.

What most people fail to realise is, there was only a name change from "prison" to "correctional centre". The inner workings didn't change. Most inmates still come out worse than they went in. As for the lady in question, the issue of rehabilitation doesn't apply here because she's still awaiting trial. What would it hurt to lay low and show some remorse? The issue of who did the actual killing may still be in issue, but most people know she is somehow entangled in this mess. Strutting her stuff and wearing the "toga" of "miss cell", sends the wrong signal.

  16. @ Thanks Ronalda!!! Chidinma should be in solitary confinement , like a Rikers Island!!! Kirikiri maximum is too good for her! Ataga was close to my family friends and she was used to set him up. All you women abusing Dante and Ceaser on this blog, don't even have that right that you exhibit here !!!

As for TJ , they have bullied you turn to mumu, now you have to suck up to them here, even same with Mark Morgan and Martins. Chike Teflon, well done for holding on to your views as a man!!!
You guys should just be guided on here, because highly intelligent people come here and we will start treating your fuck up, in the stupid harassment of people , who have a different opinion.

Please state your opinion and let the men , state theirs . I am a woman , who has lived across the world . Nigeria women , I know your stock in trade and your tendencies because I have seen more manipulative behavior from you guys, than Nigerian men.

If your husbands take your nonsense , it will not be welcomed here!!! The Bible is my standard; tame yourselves , before you come here to tame any man. I have been on this blog since 2013.
Most times , I have a more balanced perspective from the other blog than here, concerning men. Don't marry any man you cannot submit to; and don't transfer your aggression from bad marriages on men here!!! Nobody send una message!!! If you have a good marriage project on here , for women to learn , in a civilized manner.

The aged mother is mourning, and you all are talking about correctional facilities! She is a serial killer! And Stella continue to withhold my comments that respond to the pack of cerebrally challenged individuals , that you give preference to their low intelligent comments on this blog! I come here to relax and wind down, hence the need to lie low.

  17. To think that some of the ppl yarning dust here are the same ppl that were angry that Evans was allowed to change shirts; or that the Uyo killer was given a chair to sit down and answer questions at the police station. Some of u guys here are just funny.

  18. Anon 22:15👍🏾 In “copying” the western societies they are getting “holier than the pope”. There are categories of correctional facilities in the US. Murderers are usually kept in the maximum ones or solitary confinement. May God help the younger generation of Naijas. Once someone posted about their murdered dad up there, they should have put themselves in the victim’s family shoes. The benefits given to prisoners here include taking college classes to improve themselves, sewing masks for peanuts when there was mask shortage etc. in my decades here, I have never heard of a beauty pageant in those places with full make-up and weaves on the inmates. How does that deter wannabes from committing those crimes?

As for the “blog area landlords”, no comment as I cannot stand rudeness from Millenials and Gen Zs at my age. I have also been reading the blog for almost 10 years but as long as the rude ones are more vocal they will not allow intellectual contributions to many conversations as they tend to be the frequent and regular visitors.
