Doctor Freaks Journal - "Clairvoyance"

"Clairvoyance" is defined as "the supposed faculty of perceiving things or events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact."

Caveat Lector: Please note that the writer is neither a prophet nor a soothsayer...

2012:

I was in paid employment at the time and work took me to Akure, the Ondo State capital a lot. For a village-boy-turned-city-boy, Akure was a bit quiet so occasionally, the boys and I elected to unwind and we had this favourite spot around Alagbaka junction.

I haven't been to Akure in years now and I cannot really ascertain the state of that "joint".

It was the happening place in town at the time.

On a cool evening, as we were dissecting and devouring our grilled fish and washing same down with bottles of soft drinks (if you add hot drinks na you sabi oh) two young girls walked in and I think they were marketing some products.

Usually, I don't engage the opposite s#x in random conversations but there was something striking about this particular girl that kept urging me on to chat her up.

I invited her to my table and asked for her name. Probably she got my intentions twisted and she chose not to oblige me with my request. Something within me kept on pushing me to interrogate her further and I bulged. Then I gave her the greatest shock of her life when I told her something within me was telling me that we both had the same blood flowing in our bloodstream.

 She was like how? Never!

At that point she had calmed down a bit and had become more interested in the conversation. I brought out my driver's licence and encouraged her to bring out her means of ID and behold, she was my second cousin!

Her grandfather and my dad were siblings but we had never met! She was so shocked and excited. We were meeting for the first time!

My friends were more than shocked. Was I shocked? Not really because blood is thicker than water. Clairvoyance.

2000:

Mech was the first woman I met in University of Benin the first night I went to read at Faculty of Law at night. She was reading one of our 200 level Law course textbooks and I was naturally attracted to her because it was apparent that we were classmates.

We chatted and became friends. Nothing serious happened but few weeks later I informed her that I was going to be physically present at her wedding.

She smiled and promised to send me her wedding invitation. I whispered in her ears that I was going to be present at her wedding, not as a guest but as the bridegroom. She smiled and nicknamed me "Groom" for another 4 years.

Four years after, we started going out. To the glory of God, we got married eight years after and we've stayed married for 14 years now. If you ask me, how did it happen? I honestly can't say, just a matter of clairvoyance I would say, for now.

You probably have a gift that you know nothing about... Well done oh..May your gift guide you..if you were one of those serial ones after Ladies, you may have ended up toasting your cousin and maybe bedding her.... Some have done it naaaaah....

  3. My Mum. It's scary how on point she can be, though I usually don't tell her, don't want that wahala. It's funny how she'll just call you up and say 'about this and this, be careful or pray ', and it'll be exactly what's happening or something that'll eventually try to manifest. If only she knew how accurate she is but am usually poker faced, so she feels she's disturbing but to her credit, she still calls especially when it's something that weighs on her mind.
