Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to either release Tukur Mamu the detained terrorist negotiator or charge him to court. Citing the law, Gumi said anybody arrested over an alleged crime needs to be taken to court within 24 hours.










- . There is apprehension in Owerri metropolis over the abduction of Eze Jewel Ndenkwo a prominent traditional ruler in Imo State. He was kidnapped in front of one of his companies in Owerri, around 7pm on Friday.

A statement on Saturday signed by Governor Buni’s Spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, indicated that Senator Talba said he moved to the APC to identify with the giant strides of the party’s administration in the state.



-. The Kaduna State Government says Troops of the Nigerian Army have gunned down several bandits at Tollgate general area of Chikun Local Government in the state. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna.




-. The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a 29-year-old Chinese, Gang Deng, for alleged illegal mining in Ilorin. A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren said Deng was arrested on Friday and found to be in possession of crude minerals without authority.

-A student of the Ipetu-Ijesa College of Technology, Olonade Tomiwa Victor has reportedly committed suicide.

A statement signed by the Osun State Police Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on Saturday reads

“Today, 10/9/2022 at about 2:30pm, one Agboola Olusola ‘M’ of 049 Isokun Street, Ilesa, the youth leader, reported at Ilesa ‘A’ Division that Olonade Tomiwa Victor, ‘M’ ages 19 years, a student of Ipetu-Ijesa College of Technology, Osun State was found dead, hanging in the compound with a telephone cable.”

Opalola revealed that detectives dispatched to the scene of the incident reported that there were no marks of violence on the body of the deceased.
She said the detectives took photographs of the scene and later deposited the body of the teenager at Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.

The Command spokesperson added that the case is still under investigation at the divisional level at ‘A’ Division Police headquarters and that further development will be communicated duly.
