EkweremaduGATE - Court Asked To Dismiss Alleged Organ Harvesting Victims Suit Not To Release His Bio-Data

Detained former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit by the alleged organ harvesting victim, David Ukpo, seeking to stop the release of his bio-data to a London court.

Ekweremadu said, in a counter affidavit against the suit, that Ukpo has no basis to entertain any fear in releasing his visa application information and his bank account opening package except if he had lied about his real age.

In the counter affidavit deposed to by Bright Ekweremadu, immediate younger brother of the detained senator in London, Ekweremadu denied the allegations that he demanded Ukpo’s bio-data.

Rather, the deponent averred that what the Federal High Court ordered to be released to the London court was Ukpo’s bank account opening package and the information supplied in his visa application request.

At any rate, Ekweremadu revealed that based on the court’s July 1, 2022, order, the required documents have since been transmitted to two different courts in the United Kingdom.

The senator averred that it was too late in the day for Ukpo to seek reversal of a valid order that had been executed to determine his real age only.

He, therefore, prayed the court to dismiss the suit for being frivolous, abuse of court and lacking merit, having been overtaken by event.

At Tuesday’s proceedings, Ukpo’s lawyer, Mr Ojonugwa Oguche, prayed the court to adjourn the matter for him to react to the counter affidavit.

Ekweremadu was represented by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, Mr Eyitayo Fatigun.

The request was granted, and the matter was fixed for September 20 for hearing by Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo.

Ukpo, the victim of the alleged organ harvesting scandal involving Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, had on August 30 asked the court to set aside its July 1 order for the release of his bio-data for use in a London court in Ekweremadu’s trial.

Ukpo, had while faulting proceedings of the court that led to the issuance of the order claimed that his fundamental rights to a fair hearing and personal privacy had been grossly breached.

His grouse was that neither he nor the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, as Chief Law Officer of the Federation, was made a party in the suit.

  1. What's the young boy trying to hide? I still believe someone is coaching the guy what he's doing and I also believe he was aware of the whole arrangement but decided to act a fast one.

My concern is that, nothing should happen to my Sister Sonia.

    1. TJ why do you not reason properly now. Is the guy’s privacy! is Ekweremadu that went to him for his kidney. Ekweremadu should focus on how to save his daughter’s life. The guy’s age is not really an issue here, is Ekweremadu soliciting to pay someone for kidney; that is the weight of this case.

    2. Teejay giving funds to a donor according to UK law is tagged organ trafficking...It is expected that you donate voluntarily...Remember Ekweremadu himself is a lawyer and ought to know better...I think he has some fellowship with one UK university...Uk people are very observant and may have seen something was not right from the young boy...I am sure they asked the boy if he was given money, he answered YES...Honestly, the case is becoming so untidy and draining....

I just pray someone donates to the poor daughter who is at the receiving end of this brouhaha...I understand that desperate times calls for desperate measures.

    1. The road that would have not caused this kind of agony was to build the Nigeria he was voted into office to build. As long as he didn't do that instead enriched himself and his family, the agony will only be more excruciating for him. Amen.

    2. 11:33 thank you! They steal the country dry and expect sympathy when the evil result hits them and theirs. I have no pity for him. What did he do all his time in service?

  4. All the Ekweremadu’s did wrong in this case was to offer someone compensation to save their child’s life. Any parent would do this. Any parent!

I hope they get out of this in one peace and I wish a donor for their daughter

    1. Honestly. This case is pathetic.

May the almighty judge the Ukpo guy for these lies

    2. Exactly, anyone who had the money and affluence could have done the same thing for their child

    3. Unfortunately he is not any parent, he is one entrusted with the lives of many but focused on his immediate few at the expense of the lot. Any patent will not take advantage of the poor financial status of another child to put the child at risk for their own child's gain. Pls speak for your self, not especially when the said parent is directly linked to the poor financial status of the child in the first place. He too can't eat his cake and have it.

  6. This guy is definitely not the victim he is claiming to be.
Fine, the senator offered him money which is against UK rules. Its just out of desperation to save their daughter. I believe they made the negotiations here in Nigeria. And i dont think a Nigerian non-family member will donate a kidney for free. Reason they offered him money. But didn't they do test here in Nigeria before travelling?
Someone is trying to manipulate this boy.
But does he think the truth will not come out one day? So when you send someone to Prison by lying and manipulating the truth, you will now continue to enjoy life right? I laugh.
I pray that Sonia finds a donor and may God grant Sonia and the donor quick recovery.
Well if the Senator is going through this because of his own sins, this boy too will definitely reap the reward of his present action.
Politicians are bad, citizens are not even better.
    Shame.

    2. I agree with the first post. me that’s not a politician I will save evry last penny to pay someone who can save my child’s life. Evrybody is just talking cos he is a politician but they will do same in his shoes. He never forced him but I’m sure when the boy got there he decided to change mouth cos they advised him he will be able to remain in U.K. if he did.

  7. The boy's lawyer is good.
They know the Nigerian law system is flawed and the documents may have been tampered with, that is why they are resisting the move to present them.

  8. Useless man, why seeking for public support now in trouble, did they seek public support since when in enjoyment. May God punish anyone who feels sorry for these unpitiable lot. Safe your pity for the children who die everyday because of bad governance form his kind, the students at home for 7months now, the road users being victims of kidnap and accidents daily. If you don't know what to do with your emotions tell me, let me show you where to appropriate it but definitely something not with this corrupt rogues and pilfered of public funds.

  9. I have learnt a few lessons on this issue, which are: do the right thing, no matter who is involve, defend the oppressed, no matter who is involve, treat others the way you want to be treated.
    Both parents are guilty.
