Anambra Gov Soludo Calls For The Release Of Biafran Agitator Nnamdi Kanu

Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Nnamdi Kanu.

He said: “I am making a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. If he cannot be released unconditionally, I want him released to me, and I will stand surety for him.

“We need Nnamdi Kanu in the roundtable conversation to discuss the insecurity in the South East. We must end insecurity in the South East and we need Nnamdi Kanu to be around.

“Sometime ago, we set up the Truth and Reconciliation Committee to find out the root cause of insecurity in the South East and they have almost concluded their assignment.

“But this issue of insecurity cannot be well addressed without bringing to the table the key players in this matter.

“We have applied the kinetic and non kinetic approach to fighting insecurity in the South East, but the non kinetic approach cannot be complete without the Federal government releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“We must bring him to the table because we need him to be part of this process and I call on the Federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu to me, for us to have a comprehensive discussion for the fate of the South East.

“If we cannot release him based on the court process, I hereby offer myself as the surety for his release and whenever you want him, I will hand him over to you.
We shall provide him shelter and give him home, and we make this plea in the true belief in the spirit of peace in the South East,” he said.

  3. I tire for this man. His release will be a huge mistake. See what happened to Ikemba in omo yesterday and Imo government claimed not to know what was happening. Igbos killing themselves.

  4. It is easier to shoot a bullet than to recall that bullet. Even if every Igbo leader stand as surety for Kanu, the damage Kanu has done to the East will take a generation to undo. He used toxic propaganda and lies to brainwash millions of Igbo youths. He labeled other tribes and directed hate towards them. He armed unknown youths under the pretext of protecting Igbo borders and this has backfired badly. His organisation IPOB has split into different factions and each has their leader who are spearheading different kinds of violence in the East. It's funny how it's other people who are asking to stand as surety for Kanu. None of his Umuahia brethren has come out to protest or fight for his freedom. At every major sit at home,Umuahia,Kanu's hometown always do otherwise. His own people know him and don't regard him at all. They ve learnt from history when the FG leveled Umuahia to rumbles because it was the hometown of Aguiyi Ironsi. It's sad that this present generation hasn't learnt a thing from the past.

    2. He is doing everything he can to help Atiku. Anambra people aren't fooled. He will likely get 1 term if he doesn't focus on delivering his campaign promises. Big sell out. Let Kanu's governor go and secure his release.
