A 20-year-old man, Ghadiffi Sagir, has been arrested for hacking his stepmother, Malama Rabi, to death and strangling her daughter. The incident happened around 11pm on Saturday at Rijiyar Zaki, Layin Dorawanyan Kifi, in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State. The suspect reportedly accused the woman of causing the separation of his mother from his father.



Soldiers, police personnel and vigilantes are currently tracking the abductors of no fewer than 31 train passengers who were whisked away from the Tom Ikimi Train Station, Igueben, Edo State, on Saturday. Among the victims are the Manager of the station, Godwin Okpe,head of security of the station, and 29 passengers.

Two persons, including an ex-convict, were killed during a clash between two rival cults on Gambia Street, Mile One, Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday. An eyewitness identified the cults as the Beach Deck of Iceland’ and Castro House of Degbam. The eyewitness said the Deygbam cult, led by a former member of the rival gang, ambushed the Iceland leader, Precious Adiele.

Baba-Ahmed, who was on air alongside Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate, said his family became target of attacks after he was nominated as Obi’s running mate.

 Abuja residents have been thrown into darkness following the destruction of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) electrical assets and installations. In a statement, the Chief Marketing Officer of the company, Donald Etim said that the incidents have seriously impeded the company’s efforts to deliver stable and reliable power supply to its esteemed customers.

. Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency are on the trail of an importer, Cedrick Maduweke, over the shipment of a drug, cannabis indica, to Nigeria. The Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, said Maduweke offered officials of the agency a bribe of N8m for the consignment.

Yobe State Government has declared monday 9th and Tuesday 10th January, 2023, public holiday as President Buhari visits the State.

This is contained in a circular dated 8th January, 2023, signed by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Garba Bilal.
He said, “This is to enable all civil servants and the general public to receive the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who will be in the State on a one day State visit as he commissions developmental projects in the State.”

According to the circular, all civil servants are to resume work on Wednesday, 11th January, 2023.
