AMEBO CHRONICLES - Naming Ceremony Food

Party Rice!

I like party rice and when I hear there is jollof and fried meat count me in especially naming ceremony rice. They cook it differently. But when the food is there and people hoard it I can swear for them.

Since this Woman down the street started showing I was praying to be present on the day of her baby’s naming ceremony. Saw her one night walking barefoot down the street and she didn’t even respond to my greetings so I was worried but let go because the country is hard and we all have our problems.

Turns out she was in labor and on her way to the midwife’s house when I saw her. Hairdresser said she delivered and came home a few hours later WOW.

Everyday I will be counting down to the 8th day and on that day I saw smoke coming from the compound and chairs set. I bought gifts in case I eat twice so I won’t feel guilty LOL

All dressed up I stepped out and saw my fellow longer throat( we know ourselves) party was lit and colorful so we settled in, food was flying up and down but didn’t get to our side ( I wan cry). The women eating were all wearing same cloth and we heard they were the meeting people from the Grandmother’s place. Okay oo we waited.I ate chewing gum and drank water.

The Woman came to greet us and thanked us for coming but some people were reluctant to give her the gift and envelopes so I just voiced out that we were yet to be served and she apologized and said she will see to it immediately.
I was happy.

Another hour passed and no food so some of the neighbors left angrily and some switched to the other end. I carried my hungry sad self back home and ate bread with stew.

Next day I came back and my girl said they brought something for me yippeeee egusi, semo, big meats and a drink. It’s not jollof but I will take it LOL

I like food sha..

  1. I love party food a lot! However, this attitude of hoarding the food by some people or selective serving of the orisirisi at the party is just so annoying.

In as much as it makes no sense to me that people should eat from their homes before attending a party where there will be loads of food and drinks, I go still chop commit for my house before person go use food do levels for me. Ko Jo menn!

    1. Ko jo! It is very annoying and happens a lot, even at big events. I don't think it is such a big deal to ensure that everyone is served at organized events.
