AMEBO CHRONICLES - Run Away Child

Like I always say, there is no manual for parenting it is just by the grace of God that children turn out well.

The rate at which boys and girl run away from home is quite alarming and some parents don’t worry while others are sad and depressed.

Hairdresser is a good woman and although she doesn’t make much she tries her best to take care of her kids, but this particular child gives her sleepless nights and costs her a fortune each time he runs away from home.

For days now she has been looking for him and even informed the police as usual.

Turns out the Boy is in the neighborhood and goes from street to street collecting stuffs in his mother’s name telling them she will send the money and those ones knowing the mother to be very good gives him, yet we can’t find him.

This time around he took his mother’s phone and some valuable items in the house when he was leaving.

The bike man that helps Hairdresser with her goods saw him and they exchanged pleasantries, the Boy requested for the man’s phone to make a quick call to his mother. Boy took the phone went into the compound while the bike man was fixing his tire, the man waited ad when the Boy didn’t come out he went into the compound and discovered that the house has an exit.

Bike man didn’t worry much because he knew the mother, hours later he drove to Hairdresser’s shop to collect his phone but was told the boy has been missing for days now. Hnmmm

This boy is just 14 years old for God’s sake, why all these behavior?

We are at Hairdresser’s shop trying to figure out the next move and a lady who sells provision walks in looking for the boy, she said he sent her money 2 days ago and it is yet to reflect in her account although he showed her the debit alert. WHAT??

Hairdresser burst into tears.
The boy does not even have an account.

  1. Yikes. Back in the day they used to have reform school to send wayward children. Many boys will try there mothers if there is no man in the house. He is already stealing and doing scams. If he is not taken to hand he is heading down a dark road. If he is eating up all her resources, how will she properly help the other children, it will build resentment in the family and look like favouritism on her part. She has to be wise about her actions or she could lose the love of all her children.

  2. Hmmmmmm one man I know here that has two children a boy & a girl. He told me that his son has dropped out of school and disappeared from the house. But he's suspecting that the mother knows where he's. Before his disappearance his father confronted him when a staff informed the mother that the boy has left school since & the boy asked the father the value of education. The boy smokes Igbo & he's less than 20 & was in 3rd year this 2023. The father is so worried & his BP was raising until we told him not to kill himself

  7. What is happening? Is it poor parenting or what? What about Block Rosary, ACM, etc? Some parents have stopped taking their kids to all these places and we are so busy with our day to day activities thereby neglecting the needs of the kids.

With God all things are possible.
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    May God help us.
