A Lady, Mrs Folakemi from Ede local government in Osun state, has been suffering from goiter for a while. She sought medical help but when a team of doctors offered her free medical services, she opted out and asked for the money raised on her behalf.
The NGO tried to change her mind but she insisted on Taking the N300,000 contribution.

Poverty is a curse pls help her to know that health is wealth or more importantly if others can donate another 300k for surgery for her ,she doesn't know the implications because of her poverty state
ReplyDeleteWho are the "others that can donate", ehn, goke?
DeleteI ask again, who are the others?
You think money grows on trees abi? O da, bro/sis goke, please, edakun, give her the 300k.
Tanz sah/mah
This Goke sef. Make I no talk wetin dey my mind gangan
DeleteOf course she knows the implications of a growing goitre and it's attendant discomforts. So it's either she uses the goitre to elicit pity and subsequent financial assistance from the public especially, as that could explain why she doesn't want it removed.
DeleteOr it could be that she is one of those that believe that undergoing a surgery or "operation" is tantamount to a death sentence, thus her reluctance.
However, I can't understand why you are suggesting another 300k be contributed again when she failed to avail herself of medical attention in the first instance.
If the money was raised for the surgery, the NGO should have returned it back to the donors. If many more start taking the money instead of using it for what it was intended, it will discourage people from contributing to others that are genuinely interested in getting treatment.
Delete@ anonymous 16: 20 I think you are right.
DeleteEzigbo nsogbu di 😂
DeleteThis country is something else!
The NGO should return the money to the donors or pay it directly to the Hospital, if she doesn't want the surgery, the services should be transfered to someone else but not give her the money at all. That komkom saying people should donate N300k again no get sense. Such people should never be out incharge of finances anywhere.
DeleteSee power of money. She is going to regret her decision one day
ReplyDeleteShe will definitely regret it someday because prolonged none removal of the tumor could lead to cancer.
DeleteI know someone that out of fear didn't remove her until it became cancerous.
After awhile she will spend the whole money...
She dey do herself. Money wey she go finish in no time, her eyes go come clear.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the doctors told her survival chances is fifty fity
DeleteShe should have accepted the surgery bcoz as time goes on the growth will start compressing her vocal cord which will make breathing becomes difficult for her.
ReplyDeletePoverty is not good. God abeg o
ReplyDeleteWhile it hasn't exactly been determined what's driving her goitre, that this woman choose potential death in the long term for immediate financial rewards is disheartening.
ReplyDeleteNo one needs to get to this point.
I feel sad for her though
ReplyDeleteSo sad
ReplyDeleteNa wah
I won’t give her
ReplyDeleteHunger can kill immediately but goitre na later things,so she chose to quench hunger first
ReplyDeleteSo sad I hope she doesn't regret it in the future
ReplyDeletePoverty mindset.,she forgot health is wealth.
ReplyDeleteThe NGO shouldn't have released the money.
Na poverty cause this one.
ReplyDeletePoverty na bastard I swear
ReplyDeletePoverty na serious problem
ReplyDeletewhy did they give her the money, such money was to be paid into the hospital account and not to be given back to the patient.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I was thinking ooo
DeleteThey could have not given her the money or even tell her money was donated for her to under go surgery
But who knows that her Character was like this
Ahhhhhh
Am very very sure she does not know the terrible implecations on her Neck..
She will regret this decision later, she could have undergone the surgery and then later still seek for financial help, but with this, she may likely not get the help when the situation of her health gets worse. This is not poverty, it's greediness.
ReplyDeleteThank you for calling it as it is.
DeleteYeah, she's greedy and also doesn't love herself one bit...
DeleteIt is well
ReplyDeleteIt is well with her, na she know where they pain her .
ReplyDeleteThere's this misconception that some people don't survive goiter surgery. Especially those that seek spiritual consultation before surgery.
ReplyDeleteSurgey is for the good health of mankind. Always embrace it. I still recommend surgery despite being a 4th generation herbal medicine expert.
@Arike someone I know did goiter operation and didn't survive it.
DeleteAlso I wonder the prevalence of goiter amongst ladies these days.
Most goiter cases stem from a lack of iodine in the diet. I am not sure this woman’s diet so I will not speak on her, but goiter is almost always related to iodine
DeleteIt's a very delicate surgery that needs good hands to handle it and most importantly God's help but people survive it...
DeleteThis is not poverty but greed
ReplyDeleteNawahoooo
ReplyDeleteO Sad Sha... And she looks relatively young. How you choose this death sentence because of 300k beats me. Sad thing is if she chooses to do the surgery in the future it would definitely cost more. Besides she just might never get help again.
ReplyDeleteThis is the most money she has ever seen in her life, to her it is a fortune. She thinks it will last her for a long time, but by time family starts asking for handouts and she shop for few things it will be done by January and she will still be walking around with a tilted neck.
DeleteOnly God kno what he wan to use d money for but health is wealth shaa
ReplyDeleteHealth is wealth 🙏
ReplyDeleteSomebody said na her shop she carry for neck, if dey operate shop don close be that
ReplyDeleteDonations here and there with ulterior motive ,e don shelw for insta that Jay boogie trans that cry for help na scam
if the money was raised for surgery...then it is wrong to use it for something else...returning it to the donors is the right thing to do...in Nigeria we do not know that some action are fraudulent..
ReplyDeleteNa wa oh,so she actually opt for the money and she was given.
ReplyDeleteI hope she doesn't regret it
From what I understand, the money was raised for surgery. If she declined surgery, it should be given to another in need of surgery and willing to do it. If the lady wanted money for something else, it should have been raised transparently.
ReplyDeleteThought the 💰 was supposed to be paid direct to the 🏥 account.
ReplyDeleteHerbs on her mind, I hope she survives it.
ReplyDeleteWhy did the hospital give the money to the woman? what was the money raise for?if she refuses to do the surgery the money should be used for a nother person with the same Goitre issue. What she did was fraudulent and despicable. stealing by tricking innocent donors
