An Enchanting Real Life Encounter Of A Mami Wata By Four Fishermen At Oguta Lake

A group of four sailors set out on a fishing trip at Oguta lake, a river tributary that had a link with the Atlantic ocean.

Normally, they were always lucky within the first hour of their fishing expeditions but on this particular day, the current seemed to be unusually calm, no sign of the wind, only the salty smell of the sea was the only sign of the sea being alive.

With a look of frustration, these fishermen even started wondering if they've caught all the fish in the ocean, but knowing that this was impossible, they once again cast their nets into the river one last time.

This time around, there was a tug, the strength of the fish had thrown one of them off guard, and heavily, they pulled harder.They watched the ripples of the water as the fish they caught surfaced, but instead of seeing a massive fish, they saw a woman.Her skin was the color of a fertile soil and her long black hair fell alluringly across her face.

Almost at same instant,three of the fishermen fell into a deep slumber.Shocked at this occurrence, the one that was still awake stretched out his arms to grab her but on closer look at her, he observed that her countenance was more of an observation than one seeking for refuge.

He saw a sea snake swim very close towards her and he quickly stretched forth his hands to grab him but in the process, fell into the river.

There inside the water, he found to his utter amazement that it was a woman with a red and white tail,the urban legend;'Mami Wata'.

So stunned was he at this discovery that he didn't notice he was being engulfed by water.in his shocked state,he mumbled her name 'Mami Wata'.

Though his words were very faint and muffled, the mermaid nodded as if she could hear him and swam towards him. With her ethereal strength, she carried him back to the boat, and once they were inside, the other fishermen woke up abruptly.

The fishermen started singing for her as that was the only offering they had to give her, for It was believed in the native folklore that an encounter of the mystical creature can only mean abundance of fortune or abundance of badluck and darkness.

Before she dived back into the deep ocean depths, she once again cast all of them into a state of trance, and she made a strong wind to push them back to the shore bank.

The next morning, it was the piercing sounds of screaming that woke them up from their trance slumber.

It was the exclamation of villagers who were astonished by their state and their boat,which was filled to the brim with treasures of all kinds;gold, diamond, silver, pearls...

With the look of shock and bewilderment on their eyes, they looked at each other and started singing the same song they had sung to the water spirit, for they realized that their encounter with the water being was a blessing to them.

WOOOW.... where are the blog maami wata dem? Is this story accurate or does someone wanna tell us how mermads operate?
