Ondo State Govt Officials Allegedly Signing Documents In Ailing Govs Name

Kayode Ajulo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has claimed that some government officials of the Ondo State government are signing documents in the name of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who is presently recupurating after surgery.

According to Vanguard, Ajulo made the claim in an interview on Arise Television on Monday, December 4, 2023.
He noted that the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa cannot take over from Akeredolu because power has not been transferred to him constitutionally.

According to the senior lawyer, this has paved the way for cabals to hijack governance in the state.

He said, “I have it on good authority as a lawyer. Some of the commissioners, about five of them, sent memos to the governor, and they all returned with approval.
“Going through the approval compared to what the governor had approved when he was hail and hearty, there are notable disparities in them.

“The Police and Administration of Justice Act has made it clear that there can be private investigators who have been contacted because of the issue, and their results are so damning. In fact, EFCC needs to visit Ondo State to ask some questions.

“The purported signature is not from the governor. It is so apparent.”

  1. Power should have been transfered to the deputy than all this mess going on but then I am not surprised, for It's a Nigerian thing to forge signature of people and organization.

    1. I also blame the governor who has been on sick bed for over a year and refused to constitutionally transfer power to his deputy.

    1. Olongbo (cat) itself is selfish in this case, you're incapacitated for now, why not transfer the power to your deputy.

  4. EFCC don't need to visit Ondo state, your ailing governor who's resident in Ibadan needs to resign and hand over power to his deputy.
    It's over 6months already

  6. Not having complete info on what goes on in the state but what's the essence of having a deputy governor? What's the essence of having a running mate in an election? The cabal that surrounded Yar'dua did not allow Jonathan see the president when the president was sick how much more sign document. It took screaming, shouting and calling out before Osibajo was allowed to do the work of the vice president when his principal was sick and out of the country.

  8. Get well Mr Akete!
Though if he went through due process, things wouldn't bad to this extent. Again, he's deputy can out smart him. He doesn't want to risk it.

    1. So tell me what's the essence of the office of the deputy Governor, this is about the people of Ondo State, not their personal interest.

    1. Thanks you. I remember the interview he granted on the YarAdua/Jonathan debacle over the non transition of power, and the need for the doctrine of necessity to be invoked.
Now here he is doing the same thing he condemned

  12. A rather unfortunate situation. Does the governor even have the presence of mind to keep ruling the state? A simple constitutional provision and they are struggling with it? What is the deputy governor there for?

I don't really blame the governor though. When he was outside the country for surgery, the deputy began to make some very brazen moves such that the governors loyalists started panicking. They hurriedly rushed the governor back to Nigeria.

The man may survive or not. Right now though, his circle is doing everything to make bank before anything untoward happens. The state really is in flux right now. People are threading with caution.

  13. We are in a corrupt country.

The power should have been transferred long ago but they won't because Akeredolu and his people has another person in mind to take over as the governor of Ondo state.

    This is politics

  14. My governor is not fit anymore and doesn't even speak well again..

So, why retain the power... selfishness

  15. To think that the governor is a SAN who knows the nitty gritty of the laws but continues to behave with impunity.
This was a man who was so critical of politicians before he delved into politics and was made governor.

    1. Shows how inherently selfish and greedy an average nigerian is, reason the country would continue to be upside down.
