President Bola Ahmed Tinubu moved yesterday to cut the cost of governance by ordering the reduction of the number of persons in his entourage and other government officials on local and foreign trips. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and his wife Nana, are also affected by the new policy which takes immediate effect.


The Federal Government has announced plans to clear the outstanding payment owed to National Identity Number enrollment agents called Front-End Partners in the first quarter of 2024.Director General of the National Identity Management Commission, Engineer Abisoye Coker-Odusote, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.The development comes amid an outcry by enrollment agents over the failure of the Commission to pay the debt owed them for two years.

A public affairs analyst and member of the Synagogue Church of all Nations, Mr Dare Adejumo, on Tuesday, faulted the BBC documentary on the founder of SCOAN, late Temitope Babatunde Joshua, known as TB Joshua. He described the documentary as unfounded, noting that the characters interviewed in the report were unknown to the church.

 There will be no hiding place for corrupt persons in Nigeria, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede said on Tuesday. He said President Bola Tinubu has the political will to frontally tackle economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption.

About 20 persons have died in a boat mishap which occurred in Rivers State. The tragic incident, which occurred on Andoni waterways in Andoni Local Government Area of the State, Tuesday night, reportedly involved two passenger boats heading for Bonny, a neighbouring coastal council area.

 Three suspects linked with the Christmas eve attacks on Plateau State communities were on Tuesday paraded by the police. Sophisticated arms seized from them were also on display. Close to 200 people were killed during the multiple attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi local government areas of the state.

At least 10 people were killed in explosions targeting motorists on a highway in Borno State near the border with Cameroon where jihadists are active, anti-jihadist militia and residents said on Tuesday. The people were killed when their flatbed truck carrying nine people hit a landmine suspected to have been planted by jihadists in Kunibaa village outside the town of Gamboru.

As debates continue to heat up over the involvement of Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in the scandalous contract at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the Young Progressive Party, YPP, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend the interior minister.
The party threatened that failure to suspend Tunji-Ojo within 48 hours, it would mobilize youths across the country to shut down Abuja on Monday, 15th January, 2024.
