A truck driver and his motor boy escaped death by the whiskers, as an articulated 40-foot truck fell off from the bridge inward Apapa, on Sunday. The duo, who sustained injuries, were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The truck driver with an undisclosed identity was said to be ascending the bridge from Ijora Olopa, inward, when he reportedly lost control.

 President Bola Tinubu on Sunday directed a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged N585m scandal in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. He vowed to “decisively punish” those involved in any breaches and infractions unravelled during the investigations.

 The naira has depreciated by 38.9 percent against the United States dollar at the official I&E window of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the past three months. Data obtained from the FMDQ Securities Exchange revealed that the local currency fell from N745.19/$ on October 3, 2023, to N1035.12/$ as of January 3, 2024.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed several terrorists in operations conducted between January 2 and 6 in different areas of Borno State. A statement on Sunday by the Nigerian Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated that the terrorists and their weapons were subsequently bombed.

 Farmers and traders travelling through Bagudo in Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, yesterday, lamented incessant extortion by security agencies at various checkpoints along the road linking Nigeria with Benin Republic. From Tsamiya Market, a grain supplier loading a truck with 600 bags of maize or millet, allegedly paid over N600,000 to be allowed to reach Argungu and Birnin Kebbi.
