APC Chieftain Cairo Ojougboh Dies Watching AFCON Match Between Nigeria And SA

Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed away while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa . 
The incident reportedly happened when a penalty was awarded against Nigeria. Dr. Ojougboh was said to have shouted and slumped due to a massive heart attack when South Africa scored . His family has yet to issue a statement on his death.

    1. I now remember the man. He was the man that tried to stop INEC giving the results during Jonathan's, that was televised on national tv. So so sorry . May the Lord comfort his family

    1. That 2nd round match against Italy in USA '94 almost gave me heart attack. As Italy equalized, I noticed I was gasping for air. I gave myself a long break from football till 2012. It's not easy the emotions attached to sports

  8. Oh dear! Rest in peace. This is why i stopped watching penalty matches. I always leave the scene and be asking the scores from afar. This particular match i ran to the rest room and was asking my hubby the scores. May God console his loved ones.

  20. When I was watching that yesterday's match,I was just wondering how them Paree nwa oma and co do it, because I was so so tensed. When it got to the penalties, I left the scene entirely and was asking for scores from kitchen.

  24. He was the one in white sitting next to the former head of NDDC who pretended to pass out during a hearing concerning COVID funds at the national assembly when they agency was to be probed. May God comfort his family.
