AMVCA 2024 Echoes And The Movies That Won And Lost

The Africa Magic viewers choice award has come and gone but it left behind a trail of sidetalks and anger on the Internet....
Some believe that some movies were snubbed for others and some believe that some movies should not have made the nomination list....
You have watched all the movies that were nominated? Which ones do you think were just hypes and which one deserved to win ?

    1. This year was the best so far....It was like I was receiving the awards sef....

      Chimezie Imo
      Ademola Adedoyin
      Wale Ojo
      Kehinde Bankole
      Genoveva Umeh

Congratulations to all winners and nominees!!

To make AMVCA better, I think they should work on their diversity and inclusivity of their movies....It is gradually becoming a Nigerian affair rather than ''African Movies''...Major African countries were not adequately represented this year...

One way is to move the venue to another African country say Kenya or Zambia for a start.

Secondly, the movies should be vetted properly; I know they get submission of movies and there will be a lot of lobbying and ''hustling'' at the background to make sure the movies make final nomination list...There is need for thorough objectivity e.g Kehinde Bankole for SISTA rather ADIRE e.t.c...

Overall, this is the great step in the right direction because this would place emphasis on MERIT and HARDWORK on the front burner rather than POPULARITY and FAN/CINEMA FAVOURITES....

    2. You see that Kehinde Bankole? She is underrated! She deserved the recognition! That woman is GOOOOOOOD, no be everytime the ogas in the industry will be picked.

I was also extremely happy for Layi! That guy does comedy without much efforts!

  2. A tribe called Judah shouldn’t have been nominated in the first place. In my opinion it was overrated and mediocre. Breath of life was IT!

    1. Well, I feel A Tribe Called Judah deserved its nominations. A lot of hard work went into that movie also. I still don't know why Tobi Makinde didn't get a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. But Breath of Life surpasses all others and deserved every win gotten.

  3. Glad A tribe of Judah didn’t win. The movie just had really good publicity. It’s overrated. Even the delivery of the cast had nothing spectacular nor the storyline. Breath of life deserved the win.

    1. This.
      Although Funke delivered her role.
I’m yet to see the hype about the guy that played the role of the first son. To me, he is not a fantastic actor.
The second son and the tout son stood out for me.

PS: I’m yet to see Timini surpass his performance in BREAD OF LIFE. Kudos to Biodun Stephens

I'm glad a tribe called Judah didn't win any award. Overrated movie

  8. So happy for Genoveva Umeh and Chimezie Imo, their win was the highlight and the most important win for me at the AMVCAs this year. I love that two of my favorite movies, Breath of life and Blood vessel got an award. It was quality over hype and mediocre this year. Congratulations to all the winners

  9. Why are funke’s supporters complaining?
She has been winning back to back and nobody complained but this year ATCJ didn’t cut it complained to the others in the category.
Breath of Life deserved every single win.
    Black Book awesome 👏🏼

PS: Guys if you haven’t seen THE TRADE, go watch it. Blossom delivered!

  10. This has been my best AMVCA award sha. All the categories won are all deserved to be truthful.
And yeah, I'm a fan of Funke and love her craft so much but I'm my honest truth, I can't see A Tribe Called Judah winning over Breath of Life sha. That movie is a movie abeg and the main actors delivered well well
