The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Benue State has announced the biggest seizure of a substance suspected to be cocaine in the history of the command in the state.
The NDLEA Assistant State Commander, Media/Advocacy, Phillemon Saror, in a statement, stated that the suspected cocaine was concealed in an MP3 speaker and weighed 350 grams.
It was seized from a 25-year-old male.


The United Nations has again predicted that 82 million Nigerians, about 64 per cent of the country’s population, may go hungry by 2030, calling on the government to tackle climate change, pest infestations, and other threats to agricultural productivity. The prediction comes in the wake of a persistent hike in food prices in the country.

 Fresh queues for petrol surfaced in Abuja, parts of Niger and Nasarawa States on Friday, following the closure of many filling stations operated by independent marketers. Dealers closed their retail outlets due to their inability to access petrol as a result of the hike in the ex-depot price of the commodity to N710/litre by private depot owners.

 The Nigerian Army has disclosed that its troops recovered ammunition and neutralised 177 terrorists while making 263 arrests during different operations carried out across the country during the week. This was disclosed in a statement made available by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, on Friday, when the spokesperson was giving a performance review of the week.

 Armed robbers on Friday attacked a road safety officer, simply identified as Abu, as he returned from a bank and headed towards his house at Zango in Lokoja, Kogi State. Abu was disposed of a yet to be ascertained sum of money after firing several shots at him.

 A record eight United Kingdom (UK) politicians of Nigerian origin have been elected into the House of Commons following the announcement of results from the July 4 general election. Out of the eight elected, six are returning members of parliament, having served in the last session of the House.

 Anambra State Local Government Service Commission has revealed that over 300 ghost workers have been drawing salaries from various local governments in the state without coming to work. The chairman of the commission, Mr Vincent Ezeaka revealed this on Friday during an interview in his office.

 President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to come together in solidarity against the common threats that undermine the nation’s collective well being, saying that Nigeria has endured too much. The President made the call on Friday while performing the groundbreaking for the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflicts at Tudun Biri community, a Kaduna village accidentally bombed by the military in December last year.

    1. That’s what I have been preaching for a while now. Ppl are farming in sacks and flower pots. Nobody needs big land space to grow food.
