Nigerian Defence Responds To Protesters Call For coup And Flying Of Russian flag

The Nigerian Defence on Monday issued stern warning to citizens agitating for military rule in the country.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Mustapha who gave the warning while addressing journalists shortly after an emergency meeting with President Bola Tinubu, also said that those flying the Russian flag in Nigeria have committed a treasonable offence.

While some of the EndBadGovernance protesters were flying the Russian flag in some Northern states, others were heard calling on the military to take over leadership via coup.
Responding to the moves by aggrieved Nigerians protesting against hunger and high cost of living, General Christopher vowed that the law would catch up with such people.
Specifically addressing the call for coup, Musa said the military had accepted democracy and regime change would never be allowed in Nigeria, warning those behind the call to desist.
“All of us have seen it where foreign flags have been flown within the sovereignty of Nigeria, and that is totally unacceptable. We are warning in clear terms and the President has also said we should convey this, that we will not accept anybody, any individual flying any foreign flag in Nigeria.
“That is a treasonable offence, and it will be viewed and treated as such. So nobody shall allow himself to be used by any individual.
“Also the issue of coups, Nigeria is a sovereign nation, Nigeria is a democratic nation all security agencies are here to defend democracy and ensure that democracy continues to strive.
“We will not accept anyone pushing or taking any action, seemingly or for whatever reason, to want to push for any change of government. Democracy is what we stand for, democracy is what will continue to defend”, he said.

  1. I saw the mammoth crowd from the northern region protesting and for a minute I asked myself these questions;

Why all of a sudden the Northern Nigeria have risen and now championing a protest for a good governance which they never did in all the eight years of Buhari woeful and abysmal administration?

Why are they instigating a military rule by their actions by raising be it a Russian or the military flag as the case may be?

Who is behind the clamour of military junta in Nigeria?

Should they have used this same energy over the years in that region against their political and Islamic elites impoverishing them, wouldn't they have gotten the best standard of living, education, hospital, in fact compete with other regions in the country, been that they have been in power for over three decades before the civilian rule. Yet they keep on depending on quota system and political portfolio as a means of livelihood.

With the crowd seen on protest grounds, will Boko haram still hold sway in any part of the region if the people decide to flush them off and their sponsors?

This shouldn't be a protest of ending bad government alone but more importantly, it should be a protest of emancipation from mental slavery for every Nigerian under captivity from the political elites and religious entanglement.

    2. Teejay, you're a confused man. Always sitting on the fence. You don't have balls to call a spade a spade. Stop this condemnations and ass licking because the west wont still recognize or accept your input.
Whether they protected during the Endsar or not, the protest is needful at this point.

    3. Teejay realises that no military junta will conduct elections for Peter Obi to win or referendum for Simon Ekpa. No military looking to hold sway will even let any major political player escape. They and their supporters'll be holed down like the days of Babangida and Abacha and if they quote any rights, khaki boys will ask their guardian angels to recall such a person upwards. Teejay pointed out an undeniable pattern that people more reasoned than reactive cannot deny. Do you think those boys in Mali, Burkina Faso and Gabon will leave their place anytime soon for another person or tolerate all the shenanigans of Nigerians on the shosho medium? Which military ruler can use two weeks in office without heavily bribing and greasing palms of his colleagues so they don't kill him in his sleep?

The people sewing Russian aso ebi don't read. Even those boys forming confederation have not told us who is 1st and second in command because it's all a joke. People who have been cutting their noses to spite their faces since the last elections results were announced and easily defended know what the deal is.

  3. I think the only country that practices fair democracy is America, Africans generally don't understand the meaning of democracy because we still have that military mentality and I don't really blame the people asking the military to come back since the democracy is not working.
