Many years ago, I'd have joined this ongoing trend, to mock the 'CHOSEN' testimonies. The ME now, won't try it. Maybe it's maturity, or growth, or I just evolved. But I have read the Bible cover to cover, and the miracles in it, are jaw dropping! If to say I no be Christian, me sef for shout say miracles na 'Lamba'. But if I actually believe those ones happened, and the same Bible said "to those who believe, GREATER things shall ye do....", why then would I disbelieve or mock another person's testimony?
ReplyDeleteThe same God who parted the red sea, who kept Jonah in the belly of the fish for 3 days, who fed over 5000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, and so much more, is still the same, today and forever!
This is where Faith and Miracles come in. Faith is the evidence of things not seen. We believe God and and everything written in the Bible, because we trust in Him fully. We can't suddenly start disbelieving other believers, because their own testimonies sound incredulous, or maybe even ridiculous to us. Miracles are not normal. They can't be explained. That's why they are miracles. It is a divine orchestration by the Almighty, to prove Himself in our lives! Logic and Science cannot explain or define miracles. To try and make sense of miracles, is an attempt to question God's unlimited power. He raised up the dead. What else can He not do?
Are there fake prophets? Yes. Are there those who lie to look 'important' in church? Yes. Even in the Bible, there are examples of those set of people - Elymas (Bar-Jesus), a fake prophet, and then Ananias and his wife Sapphira, who lied to the church. But God dealt with all of them in His own way.
The Bible enjoins us to "Test all Spirits..", not to "Mock all spirits". Test and see. If they are not of God, you waka jéjé.
Wisdom is profitable always, to direct!

Ali B I don't agree with your submission at all...I used to live very close to their headquarters in Lagos......There are clear cut miracles and there are some things that sound so outrageous to the ears....Sounds like what can happen in a movie, daydream or hallucinating....Can you explain about the lady who didn't know about the Francophone countries in her exams, fine the answers were revealed to you then you went ahead to show the answers to another person to copy and is that not exam malpractice.....and what do they mean by the God of my Pastor...Why not my own God!!

Thanks, Ali. I am not a member of that assembly, and it's even been a while since I went to church, but a miracle happened to a loved one that still sends shivers down my spine when I remember it. I was numb and in a transfixed state, and I cried profusely like a baby because it was IMPOSSIBLE according to logic, science, and common sense, but I refused to doubt and prayed for close to 12 years, believing a miracle could happen, and it eventually did.
DeleteNo, I wasn't told; I saw it with my eyes, and it's permanent as we speak because God perfected it. I thought to share it to strengthen others' faith, but I knew no one would believe it, and it would have a counterproductive effect instead, based on 'religious' people's proclivities to suddenly resort to nitpicking and trying to rationalize spiritual things using their physical senses. But one thing is certain: if we have faith like a mustard seed and we tell the mountain to move, like Christ said, trust me, IT WILL MOVE.
I love this piece because I have always shared similar sentiments with you. Yes! There are and will always be fake prophets, charlatans, etc., which would and should raise suspicions; hence why having a discerning spirit is crucial. Still, just like you, I have always wondered how people can brazenly determine outright which testimony is real or fake, and this, on no other grounds but solely based on how unbelievable it sounds to their ears, yet would gladly quote and believe the ones in the Bible.

God does not promise to give us details but to give us wisdom. 'If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally' (James 1:5 NKJV). Why does God do it this way? Because decision making builds character.

Ali B, i don't agree with you on this. They brought the alleged miracle to the doorstep of viewers. I mean, Why the sudden need and urge to televise every miracle? Even when Christ healed one of the lepers, he said go and show yourself to the priest not to the whole world Mark 1:45. Christ gave an instruction to the leper not to tell anyone, but instead he went around broadcasting it. And making it difficult for Christ to enter any town. Even when he healed the blind at pool of Siloam he didn't want that miracle publicized. So why do churches of today seek to televise miracles, whose validations are seeking? God or man? As much as i don't comment on religious matters, they brought this out for public consumption. Christ will never ask anyone he healed to broadcast, He is that secretive because his ministry is to come and pardon sins and restore salvation that man has ones lost. Pls lets be guide. Note this post is not to condemn any religious gathering. SDK mia, pls publish.

My children were so excited to be back in school after the long holiday.
They woke up by themselves this morning, I didn't have to shout their names while tapping them to wake up like other days.
See them bouncing on the road in their new shoes( thank God for his provision). In my mind, I was like "these ones no kuku Sabi anything that is going on, see me calculating school fees and books as I walk, they are laughing and bouncing". Lol
May God provide all our needs.
The way oki vanished from this blog cos she could not deliver the n50k giveaway needs to be studied as a course...she may even be under anon....you don see say to give no easy.......please we dont want again, come out of your hiding..........
