I and a good number of people I know have tried getting NAFDAC registration number for different food products, but were frustrated due to unnecessary obstacles and bottle-necks. Some said they were even asked to provide transport fare each time before the NAFDAC officials can come for inspection. This is after making payments of all the plenty other things that is demanded. It is as if the agency doesn't want small manufacturers to do business in Nigeria. And also supermarkets and customers do not like buying food products without NAFDAC numbers. That means that genuine business people with great ideas and products are not given the opportunity for their products to be reviewed or to succeed in the business. Even USA's FDA gives their small businesses better chances to register and succeed in business than Nigeria's NAFDAC. Why???
Some of these people making fake drinks now might be people that have their products but got frustrated when they tried to get NAFDAC numbers. Frustration and hunger may have pushed them into faking products that already have NAFDAC numbers they can sell, although this is very wrong.
NAFDAC and other agencies please look into your activities and fix things up. Slot of small businesses are honest and ready to do things right, but please help make things easier for us so that we can succeed. This way we can grow and also contribute to the growth of the economy of the country.
