He has reportedly mandated his commissioners and other appointees to either join him in the APC or resign if they are not comfortable with his decision.

A Government House source, who confirmed the development, said the governor broke the news during the State Executive Council meeting on Thursday.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said Governor Eno warned his appointees that he had nothing to negotiate with them other than for them to follow him or leave.
The governor was quoted as saying, “Anybody who claims he is not aware of my intention to leave the PDP is still living in the 18th century.
“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you.
“Let me tell you, anybody who believes that when I leave the PDP he will use the party structure to fight me is lying, because I will still control the PDP structure.”
Eno disclosed that he is in love with the leadership style of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and, as such, would like to align with him.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in the state, Aniekan Akpan, could not confirm the development at the time of filing this report, as his lines were busy. However, the Director of the APC Media Network, Mr. Iniobong John, confirmed the news to journalists.
John said, “It is no longer a rumour. I think there are some confirmations that the governor is defecting to the APC. Though unofficial, I can confirm that the governor is joining our party sooner or later. No official date has been confirmed yet, but all plans have been perfected for his defection to our party.”
He described the proposed defection as great news for the APC in the state and for Akwa Ibom in general, adding that the state would now be better connected to the national power center.

ReplyDeleteThis governor , being a pastor is a typical example of what is wrong with us as a Nation. A dictator and not sure of how his governance is. His wife died and he immediately appointed his daughter to the post of First Lady, instead to let the Deputy Gov's wife lead all the projects. No one sees anything wrong in it. Last week he said any of his commissioners that does not follow him around will be dismissed immediately. A bully. Leave people to make their decisions , dont impose on adults.
ReplyDeleteAre we practicing true democracy? See we are not ready at all...
DeleteSee this man forcing his political ambition down the throat of others.
ReplyDeleteI have always known that state to be a PDP state right from 1999.
I am so sure most of his political appointees will not like this but because they have no life outside politics, they will be forced to comply.
More over he is luring them by doubling their salaries from meager 250 to 500k.
This is happening in a state living below poverty level. Let no body deceive us ,there is poverty in Akwa ibom. People can't feed. There is still this house help and gateman labour cause parents are not empowered to send their children schools. Many stopped at SS2 cause they couldn't afford 20k waec fee.
I went their for wedding and saw many who wanted to follow me back to Lagos. When I asked their parents why they did not complete secondary School almost all said they did not have the waec fee. That's how I knew about the amount.
I head no light, no water, no road in many communities except Uyo and someone is claiming a Messiah, forcing everyone against their will.
I am so annoyed . I have friends from there and they are not happy. Forget about what you read on the pages of papers on so called accomplishments.
I wish they can all play politics and turn against him but due to hunger they will succumb. 500 means slit to most of them who were redundant before the appointment. Imagine telling them they must accompany him to all functions. See waste of time and resources. Instead of picking relevant aides according to the functions. So if Tinubu is going to commission a medical facility in Lagos or Kano ,all his minsters and aides must be there with him. What a policy!
I am sick of these people. Overnight power drunk opportunists.
This is Someone back in Lagos in 1998 couldn't feed his family. No car staying in a lowlife apartment.
The worst of them are always from the people yet would never try to elevate their people....They are just cowards IMO
DeleteAnon 10.26 The truth is the Deputy Governor is even a woman. Not Deputy Governor 's wife as you said.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite shameful. But anything is possible in Nigeria.
What can the fo do that the Deputy can't?
Just to settle the daughter.
@Posh, thank you for letting me know that the Deputy is a woman. Is that not even more shameful to all the indigenes. He is also a pastor as well. I hope God can save us in Nigeria from all these animals(sorry) called leaders.
DeleteIs Nigeria still a DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY???
