EeZee Tee’s legal counsel, Chief Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), emphasized during proceedings that the new matter is strictly regulatory and unrelated to the
contractual dispute between EeZee Tee and Mercy Chinwo, which had been at
the center of previous claims. He noted that EeZee Tee has consistently
cooperated with authorities and has shown full transparency throughout the
process.'
“This case now focuses on technical regulatory compliance matters, not fraud or
misappropriation as was previously alleged and dismissed,” Ojukwu stated. He
further highlighted that discussions are ongoing toward an amicable resolution.
The EFCC’s amended eight-count charge cites transactions totaling $397,106,
alleging that EeZee Global Concepts conducted forex transactions without
Central Bank authorization and failed to report certain company earnings to the
Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML). EeZee Tee has
denied all allegations.
The court adjourned the bail ruling to May 9, 2025. In the meantime, Justice
Chukwujekwu Aneke granted a request for EeZee Tee to remain in the custody
of his legal counsel.
There was a brief incident following the hearing, when EFCC operatives made
an attempt to rearrest EeZee Tee at the courthouse entrance. However, the
situation was quickly de-escalated following the intervention of a senior EFCC
official, allowing EeZee Tee to leave the court premises without further
incident, as the matter now awaits the court’s ruling on the bail application
