JAMB Announces Review Of UTME Due To Widespread Complaints Of Technical Issues..

Hmmm......

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an immediate review of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) due to widespread complaints of technical malfunctions and mass failure. Over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200 marks, sparking outrage among candidates and parents.

Candidates claim issues such as system glitches, incomplete questions, and inconsistent question displays during the exam, with many taking to social media to express frustration. In response, JAMB is fast-tracking its post-examination review, collaborating with external experts to identify and resolve potential flaws.

The board may implement remedial measures if faults are confirmed. Meanwhile, aggrieved candidates are preparing to launch a class-action lawsuit against JAMB, citing system errors and lack of transparency. Despite the backlash, JAMB officials are defending the integrity of their Computer-Based Testing system.

  1. Way to go. The results need to be reviewed.

While it is true that the quality of education keeps getting lower everyday.
However, an examination where about 1.6million people fail, clearly shows that this particular problem was from JAMB, not the students.

    3. I trust Nigeria system,I doubt if they would come up with reasonable solution. In this case I will suggest that they should reduce the cut off mark.

  5. Dear Student,
‎Not everyone will study Medicine, Law, or Pharmacy. And that’s okay.
‎You don’t have to wear a lab coat to be impactful. You don’t need a stethoscope to matter.
    ‎Know your place.
    ‎Know your path.
    ‎Know your course.
‎If you’ve written JAMB three, four, five times trying to force a course that isn’t working…
    ‎Pause.
    ‎Breathe.
    ‎Switch,if your heart is convinced.
    ‎Switch without shame.
‎Some people are anointed for Education.
‎Some are born leaders in the Arts.
‎Some are solution-bringers in Agriculture, Industrial Chemistry, Linguistics, or even History.
‎Stop looking down on your course.
    ‎You admire Medicine.
    ‎You love the title “Doctor.
‎But maybe, just maybe, that’s not where you’re called.
    ‎And that’s okay.
‎Because there’s power in being planted in the right place.
‎You’re not in a professional department? It doesn’t make you irrelevant.
‎What makes you stand out is not your course, but your depth, your diligence, and your decisions.
‎Let me tell you the truth: What will shape your future is not just your degree.
‎It’s the extra knowledge, the self-development, the clarity, and the skills you build while in school.
‎There’s a whole life waiting for you after school. It’s big, real, and full of opportunities for those who are prepared, not just qualified.
    ‎So wherever you are…
    ‎Shine there.
    ‎Grow there.
    ‎Own it.
‎I’m rooting for you,not because of your department,But because of your destiny.
    ‎Stay strong.
    ‎Stay excellent.

    4. "Some are born leaders in the Arts.
‎Some are solution-bringers in Agriculture, Industrial Chemistry, Linguistics, or even History"- ask these are established courses in tertiary institutions. If you are destined for such careers, you would be able to pass the exams and be tutored by the giants of those disciplines.

How can we be certain that if we resit the UTME exam, the system will not glitch again or that there will be no incomplete questions? Now, everyone is calling for a reschedule for students to retake the exam, but no one is sure about the outcome. I would also suggest that various institutions should rather reduce their cut-off marks to make things easier for candidates with low scores, instead of conducting a resit. I also took part in the 2025 UTME exam, and I was denied 5 questions in my English paper, which made me score 65 — even though I know I did extremely well in English.
