The following conversation ensued
Interviewer: My brother why are you not married.
Nonso: this is Nollywood hardcore and I promised I was going to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.first of all, everything I knew about love came from a script.
What am I trying to say? As a young man growing up, I never experienced that, there was no time for that. I kept my head so busy that all I wanted was what would nonso be. There was no time for me to engage in the journey of love.
But I found love when I was a lot younger, before I was famous. Her name is Chinyere Okoye. If she is watching this right now, she knows. That was love for me but industry happened to it.
Getting into the industry it was something new for both us we didn't know how to handle it. I was becoming too busy getting involved with industry people. Roles after roles. It wasn't a problem, but I was changing. Chinyere was too good, she was too real but I was changing. I was becoming what I was not to her. She couldn't understand it, but it was very obvious that the love wasn't going to go further than it was because it was all my fault.
Everything about the industry took all of me so if I knew the world would be what it is today I would have gotten married.
In other words what I am trying to say, a lot of actors, filmmakers, alot of people believe in the make believe world. Finding it difficult to differentiate between the real world and the make believe world.
I have tried, given love and relationships a lot of chances. I have tried consistently, what people don't understand is that I have been making efforts to build relationship with someone that will lead to marriage but guess what? I realized there were certain things I wasn't doing right because I was seeing this relationships from the perception of the scripts that I always read. What was inside my head all the time, the stories, scripts they are not real.
Actors act for too long, live in the make believe world for too long that they practically forget how to live such a life in the real world with the right principles of it. Because in the real world it is a different ball game than in movies.so when I realized this,I took a step back and that is when I went on a journey to understand the nature of human being. How to build myself, how to become a better person. It wasn't that I didn't find somebody good, it was because I wasn't prepared.
I grew up on TV I don't know what it means to be a regular guy. I don't know what regular people know. Everything about me is film, storylines. I have gone through people's stories, lived in people's reality so much that I practically forget how to live in my own reality and I guarantee you, lots of actors are caught up in this bubble. I found love, but I will reveal it as time goes on."
Interview with Emmanuel Ehumadu
Thank God you finally found love. One of the Nollywood OGs then.
ReplyDeleteDid you read it all ?? Abi you read but did not understand??
DeleteHe didn't mention that he found a love. Rather he said that fame cost him true love.
He was 'bubbling ' and playing then as a Nollywood actor. Economy has hit Nollywood,he realized that he once had a true love, Chinenye. His eyes don clear,. They won't value it , until they lost it.
