The figures will shock you!
He said:
“To win a senatorial seat is now between 1.2 billion, you need that to win a senate seat. To win house of reps you need another 1 billion. State house of assembly you need about 500 million to win that. To win governorship, depending on the state delta you need about 20 billion, rivers state you need about 25 billion.
For some of those states in the north maybe 4,5,6 billion. So, it is a capital-intensive project which is what is driving the corruption in our country right now. So, every time somebody is in office, it is not education that the person is thinking of except if whatever he wants to do in education will provide some money that they can leverage on when the time for election comes”

Alibaba my brother, this is no news. We have known this since many years back.
ReplyDeleteEven though that’s why they get greedy and wanna die in power when they get there, Ali Baba I doubt this your figures, don’t cause a panic, stop figure guessing man!..

That is why we cannot get true governance and we are not practicing true democracy.......Just look at the rot and decay in corruption.......We are in an electocracy not a democracy....Soon it will be rigging galore to get into office.....
ReplyDeleteOld story.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIt's well
I dispute that house of assembly own o. I know someone that won in this osun state, infact I'm sure that if he has that 500m, he wouldn't even bother himself to contest. Alot of people that won house of assembly in osun aren't even rich, not sure they can spend 50m talkess of 500m

ReplyDeleteDemocracy is expensive everywhere, look at America. Elon Musk spend million to bolster Trump. And look democracy is even a façade. Looking at America lately is that democracy?
ReplyDeleteThat's why their is too much corruption. None is exempted.
ReplyDeleteAli Baba I disagree with you. In the last election (2023), candidates of a party like LP got elected into offices by being virtually nobodies with little spent on their elections. But so far, what has been their contribution to society? Abegi.
