Senator Oshiomhole Shuts Down Lagos Airport After He Missed His Flight

In an arrogant display of political privilege and disregard for public inconvenience, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, the former Edo State governor and current senator for Edo North, on Wednesday forced the closure of the Zulu Terminal at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos after arriving late for his flight to Abuja.

Oshiomhole blocked the entrance to the Zulu Terminal of the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) after arriving at the terminal well past the scheduled departure time of his flight.

‎Oshiomhole was scheduled to travel on an early morning Air Peace flight. His departure time for the flight to Abuja was 6:30 am.
‎ Sources at the airport said the senator blocked the entrance to the terminal entirely, refusing to budge despite multiple pleas from the terminal manager.

‎ According to eyewitnesses, rather than accept responsibility for his lateness, the senator blocked the terminal’s entrance, creating a gridlock that left dozens of passengers stranded and delayed.

‎Sources said the terminal manager’s repeated efforts to resolve the disruption were met with obstinate refusal by Oshiomhole, forcing the regional manager to intervene.
‎ A management meeting was hurriedly convened to pacify the senator and convince him to allow normal operations to resume.

‎ Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and humiliating for airline and airport staff, who were seen pleading with the senator to de-escalate the situation.
‎ Air Peace, the airline scheduled to fly the senator to Abuja, refused to accommodate him, citing his late arrival and adherence to strict check-in policies.

  1. Which version will we believe now. I heard in the newspaper reviews on radio that he said he arrived at 6:10am and he was delayed and that he was angry because they sold tickets to the highest bidder. He said they were selling tickets at triple the price.
It was so embarrassing seeing him act like that, a whole senator.
I'm waiting for Air peace to release a statement.

  5. He's a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Why should the flight leave before him, that is a big insult.
Is the airline not aware that a former NLC president, two-time governor, former chairman of the ruling party, and current senator was scheduled to be on that flight?
I think Airpeace should tender an unreserved apology to him, this is Nigeria and he is part of the owners that run the country.

"De - escalate" this is the second time I'm seeing this word, the first time was in odumeje's church and the drama that followed after the member mentioned the word can only be imagined.

  10. Anything goes in this country, imagine paralysing the activities of the airport due to his tardiness. I hope this will be addressed to prevent a repeat.

  11. As much as I don't support Oshiomoles actions, his version of what happened seems more credible.

Air peace has questions to answer here. Why will an airline turn down people who booked online and even bought tickets already and then proceed to board people who are paying twice the online rate the counter? That's madness!
Air peace needs to come out clean here.

But in all, a very shameful display from Oshiomole. He is an embarrassment.
