President Bola Tinubu has nominated Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
In a statement issued by the presidential spokesperson on Thursday, Ramat, aged 39, is described as an electrical engineer and administrator, holding a PhD in strategic management, among other qualifications.


The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the temporary withdrawal of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates due to the discovery of technical issues in the result release process. The Council made this known in a statement issued by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The Federal Government on Thursday dismissed 15 personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) and demoted 59 others for various acts of misconduct and indiscipline. This was disclosed by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) under the Ministry of Interior, which reviewed 224 disciplinary cases involving correctional officers across the country.

Gentle passed away on Thursday morning at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, days after the gruesome machete attack at his residence.

 The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NiHSA, yesterday, warned that heavy flooding will hit 198 local government areas, in 31 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, from August 7 to 21, 2025. According to a statement by the agency, affected states include Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, FCT, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 11 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos. EFCC confirmed this in a post shared on its X handle @officialEFCC on Thursday. The commission stated that the suspects were apprehended on Thursday in the Lekki area of the state.

 A 47-year-old Chinese national, Luo Mao, has been confirmed dead after he suddenly slumped while on duty at a ceramics company in the Ajaokuta area of Kogi State. The state Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, confirmed this to newsmen on Thursday.

 Rivers State Police Command said its operatives smashed a sophisticated inter-state car snatching syndicate with a foreign network, arrested 12 suspects and recovered 22 vehicles in the process. The police said among the suspects was a dismissed police officer who had 11 cars as of the time of his arrest, while three ex-convicts who were hired into the illicit deal were also arrested by the operatives.

  1. First, It was Jamb, now Waec. This will only make people question the Integrity of results released . Adequate measures ought to have been put in place to avoid recurrent embarassments such as these .
