Nigerian Govt Reportedly Shuts Down Over 13.5 million Social Media Accounts

National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has revealed that it has shut down 13,597,057 social media accounts on platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) for posting offensive content and breaching Nigeria’s Code of Practice for online platforms.

Next to lose their accounts will be trolls!!!

  1. Hopefully, the victims aren't people speaking against the government.

    And then there are people out there in the forest making videos and posting them on social media handles. Hope they'll use same energy to fish them out.

  2. If only there’s transparency in this country then it would be nice, I won’t be surprised if it’s another tactic to suppress those speaking against bad governance.
