URGENT ADVICE NEEDED
Good day Stella.
Thanks for everything you are doing through your blog.
Please post this as a chronicle.
My daughter is more interested in Arts than sciences.
I want her to go into sciences because there seems to be more opportunities in that line.
She wants to study Law precisely.
She is going to her new class ( SS1) this week and after orientation, classes will be assigned. The counsel will guide me to prepare her.
Please, I need wise counsel from you and BVs to avoid future regrets.
Thanks and God bless you.

Hmmmmmm, This is what our Fathers did those days that derailed most of our destinies....Please hear her out before you force anything on her...Do you think she will function in sciences? What subjects are her strengths?...She can study law and later go for a second degree.
Please allow your daughter to go into her Art class, don't push her into something she cannot handle.
ReplyDeleteLet her do her "Art" desire but let her understand that she has to do some computer "data" based courses. There's nothing as good as being tech inclined right now so she better start early.
DeletePlease be praying for her
DeletePlease allow her study what she wants. This will make her commit more to it and do well.
ReplyDeleteAbout opportunities, nah God dey give am. trust God to , when it's time
Mummies and Daddies I thought we left this a long time....Allow her to do this course....Opportunities are same in sciences, commercial and arts.....What you can do is to create an enabling environment and be influential in making sure she gets opportunities.....
DeleteAll the best
Yes there are more opportunities in sciences than art. But she might be struggling in art subject thereby finding it difficult to cope. let her stay where her strength is.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Better leave her to her ability .Don't do that it may not be good
ReplyDeleteLet her decide what she wants.
ReplyDelete"There seems to be more opportunities in that line" is very funny. Are you God?
All you need to do for her is pray for God's guidance, long life, good health and his protection.
Madam, allow your daughter to follow her path. What if she is good in arts than science ?
ReplyDeletePlease allow her to follow her own path. You can advise, counsel and give her facts to think about before making up her mind; so that tomorrow she won't say you allowed her make a mistake.
ReplyDeleteThese days people can study arts and later switch to science if they want. Even if it ends up being a mistake, she would see it as her own mistake and take action to correct it. It is better that way than feeling like a square peg being forced into a round hole. Some children can even get depressed and damaged for life as a result of such.
Please ma,let her make her choice. First degree is just foundational now. Afterwards, she can major in her calling.
ReplyDeletePls pls let her do Arts in peace. She may not do well in Science.
ReplyDeleteMore opportunities you say? Thank your God say na Law she wan read. What if na fashion designing or Parfait she wan dey make?
ReplyDeleteYou can't live your dream through your kids. We all came with our own script. Though there are cases when that happens. John Osteen giving birth to pst Joel. President Bush Snr giving birth to George W Bush, but in most cases it is not always the case. Don't be surprised too that he might not even carry out the law he's fascinated about. God might have other plans. Just let her be. Don't super imposed. Just guide. At the end of the day, it is God's plans over your daughter that would prevail. Blessings
ReplyDeleteAnalyse her natural inclinations and academic performances , then give her an objective counsel based on your unbiased review. What has been her performance in both subjects from JSS1 to JSS3?
ReplyDeleteMine wanted to do Commercial, her dad wants Science or Arts, saying there's nothing like Commercial, he actually wants her to do Science but not coming out straight with it.
ReplyDeleteShe's not happy with it.
I am OK with her doing the Commercial and backing it up with skill acquisition especially tech.
I am of the opinion that not everyone who does Arts or science ends up graduating with that in the university.
I actually wanted her to break school for a year cuz I feel she truly doesn't know what she wants to become but no one agreed.
I will just be here to provide support whenever it is needed as long as I am still here
Find out why she wants to go to Art, many of us went there because we didn't have good Physics and Maths teachers in the Sciences, if she loves Sciences but individual subjects are her problems, you can help out. But, if she has passion for Art, you can let her go there. These days na Jamb get the final say las las sha
ReplyDeleteDo parents still do this? Please allow her follow her heart just guid and pray for her.
ReplyDeleteLet her study what she wants. I know someone who studied law then retrained to become a doctor. He now has a practice specialising in medical law. Another doctor I know became a fashion designer. No one knows tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGuidance is key but don't force it.
ReplyDeleteSciences??? I think Parents should be careful with living their dreams through their children. In the end it is what she has been wired for that will she will be happy about, and will be comfortable with.
She may use her Law for many things.
Pray and leave the rest to God.
Lol, my daughter wants to go for arts too , like the real arts ooo, if it was Law I would even be excited because I’m a lawyer but I’m encouraging her to follow her dreams..(painting, drawing, literature)…what else can we do…
ReplyDeleteYour intentions are good because you do not want to see her suffer financially in life. That said, everyone has a divine calling from the Creator that will be used according to the Creator’s plan for them. Seek divine wisdom to ensure you are not infringing on what has been cast for her since her conception.
ReplyDeleteWow. I can't believe parents still have this type of mentality in this day and age. Please have a discussion with her and see where she thrives.
