An explosion at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) factory in Kaduna on Saturday killed one person and injured four others. The incident, which occurred around 10 am at the corporation’s ordnance disposal pit in Kurmin Gwari area of Kaduna metropolis, was linked to expired raw materials used in arms production.
 

Gunmen have allegedly assassinated a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Mathew Eya, parish priest of St. Charles Catholic Church, Eha-Ndiagu, in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. According to community sources, the incident occurred on Friday evening while the cleric was returning to his parish along the Eha-Ndiagu road.

The Federal Government has collected specimens for laboratory tests to determine the exact cause of a strange flesh-eating ailment that has claimed seven lives in Malabo, Adamawa. Dr Adesigbin Olufemi, Acting National Coordinator, National Tuberculosis, Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy Control Programme, disclosed this in an interview on Saturday.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced the appointments on Saturday at the Funeral Service for the late Adayilo held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested a 46-year-old man, Jude Onouha, identified as the kingpin and leader of a notorious syndicate that specialised in vandalising high-end vehicles across Lagos estates while posing as security operatives. According to the Command on Saturday via X, the gang disguised themselves in fake security uniforms and used a modified Mercedes-Benz car jack, crafted to resemble a firearm, to deceive unsuspecting estate security personnel.

Villagers along the Makurdi–Lafia road, on Saturday, blocked the highway in protest over the killing of five farmers on their way to the farm in the outskirts of Makurdi bordering Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The incidents, which occurred separately on Friday and early Saturday, led the protesters to block the road with the corpses of three of the victims.

President Bola Tinubu has granted automatic employment to the four children of Dr. Grace Adayilo, the late Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, who died recently.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike made the announcement on Saturday at Adayilo’s funeral service held at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.
The solemn ceremony drew top government officials, civil servants, relatives and friends who came to honour her memory.
Calling her passing a “painful loss,” Wike lauded Adayilo as a devoted, humble and hardworking public servant whose impact on the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, would not be forgotten.

“On behalf of the FCT Administration and Mr. President, I extend our deepest condolences to her family.
“The President has instructed that her four children be offered automatic employment, understanding that the family has lost its breadwinner,”
